Hi All, while browsing FB recently, I discovered that I am listed as admin for this page. Not quite sure I remember how this happened except that I was working with the BOD years ago to try to get a neighborhood watch program going which never came to fruition.. This page is not monitored by anyone and it is set up so anyone at any time can post on it, so when you see a posting from Salem Woods Neighborhood Watch, it could be from anyone who likes this page and the contents are not monitored or verified.

This is not happening in our neighborhood that we know of, but please lock your car doors at night, especially if you have a garage door opener. Thieves have targeted several homes in Bellamy off Flobert and Indian Lakes. If your car is unlocked and they see an opener, they use it and steal tools and any valuables from your garage in the middle of the night. They have not ventured into any houses, but you never know.

Apparently this didn't get out when it occurred a couple of weeks ago, but since a lot of folks spend time in Norfolk, I felt this would be pertinent to safety! Just remember- even if provoked, don't exit your vehicle for any reason!

Since this affects a lot of folks in the neighborhood, I wanted to bring it to peoples' attention- the school board will be voting on the new budget next month, which includes such measures as eliminating middle school and JV sports from all of the schools, reducing teacher/staff pay, eliminating various after school programs and summer school, and a large list of other major aspect of the school system! Please check it out at the link above! They also provide links to contact your legislators and city council members- contact our representatives and let them know this is not ok!

**ALERT** An armed robbery occurred on 1/30/12 at 11:40 pm in the 4600 block of Boxford Road. The victim reported he had just returned home and was walking to his front door when a black male suspect approached him and produced a black handgun. The suspect demanded the victim’s property. The victim handed over his phone, at which time the suspect fled in the same direction he had approached from. A witness observed the suspect get into what looked like a burgundy 2-door vehicle, possibly a Daewoo. This appears to be related to another armed robbery case in that occurred ten minutes earlier.
Suspect(s): B/M, 5’8, 160 lbs, 17-18 yoa, wearing a black zip-up flight jacket with fur around the hood, dark pants, armed with a black handgun

Please remain aware of the surroundings constantly! There have been reports of individuals being robbed when they step out of their vehicle after pulling into their driveway. Unfortunately we tend to get complacent once we have “home” in our sights – we need to remember to remain aware of our surroundings even after we arrive home. Trimming back shrubs, making sure we have good exterior lighting and eliminating hiding places for bad guys helps too!

Vandalism and challenging authority:

On Tuesday, the police had to be called because five kids were skateboarding into the neighborhood office wall. They were asked to leave and challenged the askers, but finally left. After walking around the block they were back again. Their pictures were taken and the police were called. The kids scattered and threatened to come back and make the individuals sorry, stating "We'd better not find out where you live."

Please be vigilant and bring cell phones when you walk so if you see something you can report it!

I saw a green cockatoo type tropical bird flying around Edgartown Ct on Wednesday afternoon and haven't seen it since. I posted a notice on Craigslist and was contacted today asking if I had seen it more recently. If anyone hears/sees it flying around, please let me know so I can pass along where it was last seen! Thanks!

We are having a Gift Show on Sept. 25th at the clubhouse from 2 -5 PM!!! There will be representatives from Direct Sales such as Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Longaberger Baskets and more! There will be raffle prizes, snacks and drinks will be served.
