This Saturday Back Bay NWR is hosting two public events!

The first weekend in June is Virginia's Free Fishing Weekend. From June 5 - 7 fishing licenses are not required and those interested in fishing are encouraged to try it out. The Izaak Walton League will be out at D-Pool from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Drop by anytime!

Saturday, June 6 is also National Trails Day. We will celebrate with a guided walk at 10:00am. This walk is best for those new to the wildlife refuge and young hikers.

No registration is needed for either of these programs. Both programs are free, but there is a $5.00/vehicle entrance fee. America the Beautiful Passes and Federal Duck Stamps cover entrance to the wildlife refuge.

Scouts get to experience a unique combination of Scouts BSA troop and Venturing crew camping fun, competition, challenges, and learning at the “Tidewater American Adventure” Camporall at Tidewater Council’s Awesome Pipsico Scout Reservation. Fun and exciting activities are themed on significant eras of the history and unique traditions found only in the United States.
This weekend event will also honor and participate in the national “America 250” celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
