Today, we remember and honor EOD1 Sean P. Carson, whose name is engraved on the Pillars alongside his brothers who were killed in the performance of their duties.

EOD1 Sean P. Carson joined the U.S. Navy in 1999. After serving at Fleet Readiness Center Southwest, Detachment Point Mugu, California, he began EOD training in 2007 and graduated as a Basic EOD Technician in January 2009. He was then assigned to EOD Mobile Unit THREE in San Diego, California.

EOD1 Carson deployed with Platoon 3-7-1 in support of NSW Squadron FIVE, serving in Iraq and Bahrain in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, and Enduring Freedom. He later served as an EOD Team Leader with Platoon 3-3-1 before selflessly volunteering to fill a critical manpower gap with Platoon 3-8-1 in Afghanistan. There, he supported NSW Squadron THREE and conducted combat operations alongside U.S. Army Special Forces, SEAL Team THREE, and Afghan National Army Commandos.

On August 16, 2012, EOD1 Carson was conducting combat operations in Afghanistan when the Black Hawk helicopter carrying him, two SEAL team members, and four U.S. Army aircrew members was shot down by enemy fire. Tragically, all seven service members aboard were killed.

EOD1 Carson’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, two Navy Achievement Medals, four Good Conduct Medals, and numerous additional personal, unit, and campaign awards.

EOD1 Sean P. Carson’s name will forever be honored, and his story will always be remembered.

Today, we remember and honor EODC Nicholas H. Null and EODCS Kraig M. K. Vickers, whose names are engraved on the Pillars alongside their brothers who were killed in the performance of their duties.

On August 6, 2011, EODC Null and EODCS Vickers were among the 30 Americans killed when their CH-47 Chinook helicopter, call sign "Extortion 17," was shot down during combat operations in Wardak Province, Afghanistan. The aircraft was carrying U.S. special operations forces on a mission to reinforce troops engaged with enemy forces during the Global War on Terrorism.

EODC NULL
EODC Nicholas H. Null enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2000 and later earned his qualification as a Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. Following assignments with EODMU6 and EODMU2, he completed multiple combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he rendered safe improvised explosive devices and led critical EOD operations. His expertise and leadership earned him selection to the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG), where he conducted direct action missions in support of special operations forces.

His awards and decorations include two Bronze Star Medals with Valor, the Purple Heart, and numerous additional personal and unit awards.

EODCS VICKERS
EODCS Kraig M. K. Vickers enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1996 and became a Navy EOD Technician in 1998. After assignments with EODMU5, EODMU8, and EODMU3, he joined the Naval Special Warfare Development Group in 2005. Throughout his career, Vickers deployed multiple times in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, serving with distinction on direct action missions alongside special operations forces.

His awards and decorations include the Silver Star, three Bronze Star Medals with Valor, the Purple Heart, and numerous additional personal and unit awards.

EODC Null and EODCS Vickers' names will forever be honored, and their stories will always be remembered.

Today, we remember and honor EN2 (SW/EOD) Edward A. Koth, whose name is engraved on the Pillars alongside his brothers who were killed in the performance of their duties.

EN2 (SW/EOD) Edward A. Koth enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1999 and later reported to Naval Special Clearance Team ONE, where he began his journey as a Navy EOD Technician. After graduating from NAVSCOLEOD in 2004, he was assigned to EODMU8)in Sigonella, Sicily, completing two combat deployments to the Middle East.

While assigned to EODMU8, EN2 Koth forward-deployed to Camp Liberty, Iraq, in support of Task Force Troy, where he cleared more than 2,300 kilometers of main and alternate supply routes, helping ensure the safe movement of coalition forces. He also played a vital role in the discovery and safe rendering of the largest cache of explosive formed projectiles captured during the conflict.

On July 26, 2006, while conducting combat operations in Baghdad, Iraq, EN2 Koth was rendering safe a 155mm artillery shell that had been converted into an improvised explosive device. During the operation, the device detonated, and EN2 Koth was tragically killed in action.

His actions saved countless lives, and he is remembered for his courage, technical expertise, and commitment to protecting others.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, and numerous campaign and service medals recognizing his valor and sacrifice.

EN2 (SW/EOD) Edward A. Koth’s name will forever be honored, and his story will always be remembered.

Today, we remember and honor EODC Patrick L. Wade and EOD1 Jeffrey L. Chaney, whose names are engraved on the Pillars alongside their brothers who were killed in the performance of their duties.

Assigned to EODMU11, EODC Wade and EOD1 Chaney were conducting combat operations in Salah ad Din Province, Iraq, when on July 17, 2007, they were tragically killed during combat operations when their vehicle was struck by a large IED.

EODC WADE
EODC Patrick L. Wade enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1987. During his career, he served in assignments around the world and participated in numerous high-profile operations, including recovery efforts following the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster and the recovery of World War II munitions alongside German Navy divers.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and numerous campaign and service medals.

EOD1 CHANEY
EOD1 Jeffrey L. Chaney enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1993, beginning his career aboard USS Wasp (LHD-1) then served with the Navy Cargo Handling and Port Group in Virginia, where he earned the Antarctica Service Medal. Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, he became a Navy EOD Technician, graduating from NAVSCOLEOD in 2004.

Assigned to EODMU11 DET 9 as the Leading Petty Officer, EOD1 Chaney completed more than 100 EOD missions, including the disposal of 40 IEDs, 14 suspected IEDs, and two suspected vehicle-borne IEDs.

His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Valor, and numerous additional campaign and service medals.

EODC Patrick L. Wade and EOD1 Jeffrey L. Chaney's names will forever be honored, and their stories will always be remembered.

Today, we remember and honor EOD2 Tony M. Randolph, whose name is engraved on the Pillars alongside his brothers who were killed in the performance of their duties.

EOD2 Tony M. Randolph enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2005 following his graduation from high school. After completing NAVSCOLEOD, he was assigned to EOD Mobile Unit EIGHT (EODMU8) in Sigonella, Italy, where he began his career as a Navy EOD Technician.

In March 2009, EOD2 Randolph deployed to Afghanistan as part of Joint Task Force South. On July 6, 2009, while conducting combat operations near Forward Operating Base Lagman in Zabul Province, his convoy was struck by an improvised explosive device. EOD2 Randolph was tragically killed in action. His dedication and bravery in disarming explosive threats and securing safe routes made him a vital asset to his unit.

EOD2 Randolph is remembered by his fellow Sailors as an example of true service to country and sacrifice for others.

EOD2 Randolph’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

EOD2 Tony M. Randolph's name will forever be honored, and his story will always be remembered.
