My heart is heavy hearing about the passing of Ross Goldman. Ross was such a special part of my memories at VSG, and I will always remember that sweet, affectionate smile and his unforgettable laugh.

One of my favorite things about Ross was how much he loved getting his nails painted. He would proudly show them off with the biggest smile, and you couldn’t help but smile right along with him. 💅🏽💙

No matter how much time passed, Ross would always tell me he was coming back to the program. I always hoped that one day he would walk through those doors again.

Ross, I’m grateful for the memories, the smiles, and the laughter. You left a special mark on my heart, and you will be deeply missed.

Rest peacefully, Ross. 🕊️💙

Our Ready, Set, Work! Mock Job Fair was a great success! 💼🎉

Participants gained hands-on employment experience by creating résumés, completing job applications, practicing interview skills, and exploring different job opportunities.

We also helped them recognize the valuable experience they have already gained through volunteering with the Virginia Beach SPCA and Meals on Wheels. Volunteer work builds important skills such as responsibility, teamwork, communication, following directions, and helping others—all skills that can be included on a résumé!

We are incredibly proud of everyone who participated, stepped outside their comfort zone, and worked toward their employment goals. Thank you to everyone who helped make this meaningful experience possible!

As we approach the most wonderful time of year, The Salvation Army is here to help families in need this holiday season.

📍Must reside in Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, or Virginia Beach

📱💻 Smartphone, tablet, or computer with camera - Required to upload necessary documentation

👦👧 Children must be ages 0M - 12 years old

🪪 Parent/Legal guardian Photo ID - Government issued photo ID including drivers license, non-driver ID, or U.S. Passport

🏡 Proof of Address - Photo ID is acceptable only if it includes the same exact name and address as your application. If it does not, you will need to upload a copy of a utility bill, lease, mortgage, or a piece of official mail that includes applicant name and current address.
(If you are homeless, you may provide hotel invoices, shelter letters, or hand-written letter from a family member or friend in the service area)
