Our 2026 summer teacher workshop, in partnership with the Chrysler museum was phenomenal. Thank you to Emily, Grace and the wonderful summer interns at the Chrysler.

It was an action packed two day event which included visiting the museum’s new Constellation exhibition, gallery tours and learning new creative techniques and processes. We all left yesterday afternoon feeling relaxed, restored and calm.

Thank you to all that came and spent two days with us. We can’t to see you all this fall.

TVAEA is honored to partner with the Chrysler Museum of Art for the Teacher Two-Day Workshop coming up on Thursday, July 16th and Friday, July 17th! The workshop will be held from 10am to 3pm each day at the museum in Norfolk. Enjoy two days of creative rejuvenation while experimenting with materials and processes while building connections with fellow educators. And the workshop is FREE! Registration is required (link in comments).

TVAEA is looking for members to create the pins for our region for the upcoming VAEA fall conference. While there is plenty of time, we know summer is the best time for teachers to knock these tasks out of the way! The conference theme for 2026 is “In the Making!” Please email the board if you are interested in helping. (Scroll for pictures of past pins from our region and from across Virginia.)

It’s time to nominate your fellow art teachers for VAEA Awards! Categories include elementary, middle, high, and museum educators as well as administration and supervision. Other details and materials are available on the VAEA website (link in bio), or email the board for more information. Names of nominees should be sent to the Board by May 31st, and completed nomination packets MUST be turned in by June 30th.
