📢 EVENT UPDATE: Lago Mar Fall Harvest Festival Rescheduled! 🍁🍂

Due to high winds and heavy rain forecasted for Saturday, we are shifting the festival by one day to ensure a safe, dry, and fun experience for all families!

🍂 LAST CALL: Lago Mar Annual Fall Harvest Festival! 🍁

Our favorite neighborhood tradition is officially here this weekend! Join us this Saturday, October 17, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Lago Mar Park at Back Bay for food, festivities, and community fun.

Before we kick things off, here is everything you need to know:

🎟️ Beat the Lines: Early Wristband Pick-Up & Dues —- Skip Saturday morning lines by picking up your wristbands in advance:

* When: This Friday, October 16, from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
* Where: Under the canopy at Lago Mar Park at Back Bay
* Membership Notice: Please remember that the Fall Harvest Festival—including all concessions, food, drinks, and entertainment—is exclusively for current, paid Lago Mar Civic League members. Guests are welcome for a fee.

Need to Join or Renew? You can pay your dues directly at the canopy on Friday evening, or renew online ahead of time at https://www.lagomar.org (under the Join tab).

🧊 Cooler Drop-Off (We Need Your Help!)
We are still in need of extra coolers to keep beverages and supplies cold:

If you have a spare cooler we can borrow, please clearly label it with your family name / contact info. Drop it off under the park canopies during the Friday evening wristband window (5:30 PM – 7:00 PM). You can pick up your cooler immediately following the event at 2PM.

Next weekend - Sunday, October 18th is the 5th Annual Abby Furco Memorial Color Run at Lago Mar Park at Back Bay!

Just a reminder there is limited access in/out if you are on the race route from 10-11:30am. Please drive carefully. See below for more or on your mailbox flyer.

**All are welcome to run, walk, and get covered in color while supporting an incredible cause! This is an all ages event.

This annual community event honors the memory of 15-year-old Lago Mar Resident Abby Furco, who passed away in 2021 after an eleven year battle with childhood cancer and its effects.

We run in Abby's memory and in honor of all the courageous children and families who have faced childhood cancer.

This year's goal is to raise $12,000 benefiting Abby's Legacy Foundation, EDMARC Home Health & Hospice, and St. Baldrick's Foundation.

📣 A fun weekend is rearing its way quickly towards us! We have our Community Fall Fest on the 17th from 11am-2pm, followed by the Color Run!

The Fall Fest needs volunteers. Just an hour of your time goes a long way! Text Lenny at 541-965-3330 to help support your community while enjoying good food and fellowship. We will be handing out wristbands at this event to all paid civic league members. These wristbands will allow you access to all concessions, inflatable, face painting, the pumpkin patch, and food.

In another note:
The 🏃‍♂️ Abby Furco Color Run 🏃‍♀️ is also in search of golf carts to use for their 5th Annual Abby Furco Memorial Color Run on October 18th, 7 am-12 pm (or any hours you can during that time). They will be preparing the course with chalk inspiration along the route and have key volunteers riding the course as well. Please get in touch with Tiffany at 757-679-8655.

🤝It’s easy to point out what our neighborhood is missing, but it takes real heart and effort to step up and build the solution. Lend a hand where it matters most.

VIRGINIA AQUARIUM ANNOUNCES ‘HALLOWEEN NIGHTS’ IN OCTOBER

OWLS CREEK, Va. (Ashley Knight, WAVY)- The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center is getting into the Halloween spirit with ‘Halloween Nights’ on October 16 and 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Dress up in costume and enjoy a family-friendly night under the sea, with costumed SCUBA divers, spooky science experiments, face painting, candy, and bubble magic. The event will also include a costume parade with music from a DJ at 7 p.m., where guests can show off their Halloween costumes.

Along with the evening fun, Halloween Nights will help reduce waste with two recycling initiatives, a costume drive, and candy wrapper recycling. During the event, the Aquarium will collect gently used Halloween costumes for donation to local, under-resourced families as well as collect and recycle candy wrappers from the event.

Admission to Halloween Nights is $38 for adults and $33 for children. Aquarium members receive 50% off admission prices. Children four years old and younger receive free admission.

Admission proceeds go to the Virginia Aquarium Foundation to fund education programs, conservation initiatives, research, animal care, and to operate the Aquarium’s Stranding Response Program.

Neighbors, our annual Independence Day celebration is almost here!

🎟 Grand Prize Raffle:
