This page and our Civic League are powered entirely by resident volunteers. For the Owners and Residents of Lago Mar

Lago Mar is a beautiful neighborhood in Virginia Beach, known for its large lots, wide streets, and wooded surroundings. Located in the city’s southeast area, it offers a quieter setting while still being close to everything that makes coastal living special. Our name reflects our

location near both lake and sea. Lago Mar sits close to Lake Tecumseh and the Atlantic Ocean, with easy access to Sandbridge Beach, Back Bay Wildlife Refuge, local farms and produce stands, the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center, the Oceanfront, and numerous outdoor and athletic activities. Whether you enjoy kayaking, biking, walking, running, surfing, swimming, or simply picking up fresh local produce, it is all just minutes away. Lago Mar is a place to slow down and find peace, while also serving as a perfect home base to enjoy the best our area has to offer. Our neighborhood is made even better by the many volunteers who give their time and care, including the Civic League Board and others who help keep Lago Mar a welcoming and connected community.

Welcome to Lago Mar 👋

Our Membership Officers, Janet Tranter and Kelly Stewart, have been out in the neighborhood delivering welcome gifts to some of our newest residents.

So far, 14 gifts have been delivered, with more still to come.

Each welcome bag includes helpful local information, community resources, and a few small treats to say we’re glad you’re here.

If you see Janet or Kelly out and about, feel free to say hello. And to our new neighbors, welcome to Lago Mar. We’re glad to have you here.

We’re sharing this for visibility as there have been some questions around entrance landscaping and property maintenance:

Over the past several months, the Board has conducted an extensive review of the Civic League’s largest recurring expenses, including landscaping at the Entrada Drive and Los Brisas Drive entrances and along Sandbridge Road. This review required significant time and coordination to ensure we had a...

If you have any leads, connections, or other recommendations on how to make this year special, please reach out! We’d love to bring someone extraordinary to our streets to help honor the red, white, and blue.

Have you been over to Princess Anne Area Library lately?

If not, this is your nudge to get outside, enjoy this beautiful weather, and see what’s right in your backyard.

📍 1444 Nimmo Parkway, Virginia Beach, VA 23456

This place isn’t just about books anymore. It’s a launchpad for trying new things, getting your family out of the house, and making the most of your time.

Through the Virginia Beach Public Library’s “Library of Things,” you can check out everything from GoPros and coding kits to outdoor gear and games. You can take home up to three items at a time, no cost, just curiosity.

Think about that. Instead of buying something you might use once, you can try it, enjoy it, and bring it back. That’s smart living. That’s community.

So here’s the move: don’t let a great day pass you by. Grab the family, head over, walk the shelves, ask questions, and walk out with something new to experience.

This is one of those resources that’s easy to overlook, but once you start using it, you realize how much opportunity has been sitting there all along.

If you’ve checked something out before or attended a baby open play, share your experience. Let’s get more people taking advantage of what we already have.

What a great turnout this weekend at our Lago Mar Easter Egg Hunt.

It was awesome seeing so many families out, kids running around, and the community coming together. There were 2,500 eggs across the park, with 1,500 from strolllagomar and 1,000 from the Lago Mar Civic League.

A big thank you to Stroll Lago Mar for letting us partner up on this event, and to all the local vendors who came out and helped make it a great day.

We’ll be sharing some photos from the event below. If you took any, feel free to drop them in the comments.

Looking forward to doing more of this together.

The City is starting a new Resident Parking Voucher Program for the Oceanfront. Starting this year, residents can sign up for a $50 annual parking credit that works in garages, lots, and at meters down there.

A couple quick things:
• You get $50 in parking each year
• It’s all handled through an app
• You can add another $50 for $25 if you need more
• Works throughout the Oceanfront area

Registration opens April 1.

If you go to the beach even a few times a year, this might actually be worth signing up for.

Here’s the info from the City if you want to take a look:

The Virginia Beach Fire Department is currently accepting applications for its Fire Cadet Program.

This program is open to teens (typically ages 14–18) and provides a unique opportunity to learn about fire service, emergency response, and community service firsthand.

It’s a great way for young residents to build skills, gain experience, and explore a potential career path in public safety.

If you have a student who may be interested, more information and the application can be found here:

The Cadet Program is for Students 14-18 Years Old

Thank you to everyone who engaged with us in February. From the QR code signups to the thoughtful emails and messages, the feedback has meant more than you know.

We truly couldn’t do what we do without the support of this community, and we are incredibly grateful.

Please keep the feedback coming, whether it’s through social media or email. Your input helps guide every decision we make and ensures we’re building something that truly serves Lago Mar.

Special thanks to Robert Williams for sharing this on the old profile.

You can review the presentation on the Nimmo Parkway Extension Plan:

1. Least impact appears as presented to be to extend Nimmo over improving Sandbridge Road.
2. Comment period is open and presentation tells you how to make comments.
3. Decision on the project from approving agencies is ~ Spring 2027.
