Americorps NCCC Class 19 Oak 3 Oak 3 is an AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) team for class 19
in the North Central Region based in Vinton, Iowa.

AmeriCorps NCCC is a full-time, team-based, residential service program for individuals 18-24 years old. NCCC members serve in teams of 10-12 and work on 4-6 service projects in the areas of disaster relief, energy conservation, urban and rural development, infrastructure improvement and the environment. Members mentor students, construct and rehabilitate low-income housing, respond to natural dis

asters, clean up streams, help communities develop emergency plans, and address countless other local needs. In exchange for their service, NCCC Members receive $5,550 to help pay for college, or to pay back existing student loans. Other benefits include a small living stipend, room and board, leadership development, increased self-confidence, and the knowledge that, through active citizenship, people can indeed make a difference. AmeriCorps NCCC is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The Corporation improves lives, strengthens communities, and fosters civic engagement through service and volunteering. The North Central Region campus in Vinton, Iowa (opened in July 2008) is one five regional campuses in the United States and serves Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Oak 3 is now headed back to Vinton, IA from Sherman Lake YMCA Camp. It is a bittersweet moment for most, group hugs were given as the team said their last goodbye to Staff and Campers. Next round, the last official round of Americorps NCCC, will be in Upper Peninsula, Michigan with Habitat for Humanity.

Bags are packed, we're ready to go! Oak 3 travels to Augusta, MI where we will start the second part of our fourth round. We will be working at Sherman Lake YMCA outdoor center as camp counselors. We are excited to have some fun and help kids for the next three weeks!
