In addition to our members, Shannon Baker joined us for lunch to tell our group about the upcoming quilt show in conjunction with Vinita’s Route 66 Festival. She showed us some really nice vintage quilts and one commemorating Rt. 66.

Ladies this is one of the quilt blocks I am considering for my block in February. This one appears to be super simple with 4 ten inch squares sewn on the diagonal and then cut into 4 strips. I can’t find a written pattern so am sharing the video. Give me your feedback please. I’m considering one other simple pattern, too. I’ll try to share a picture of the other pattern.

Hers the list for the October Shop Hop. Several of us went last fall. I have two tentative routes to hit all 13 shops over a couple of days. One is from Bartlesville to Tamona to Skiatook to Sand Springs to Tulsa to Claremore. The other is from here to Wagoner to Coweta to Broken Arrow to Bixby to Eufaula. The first one essentially goes down 75 until Tulsa and home. The second goes down 69 with side trips to Broken Arrow, Bixby, and Eufaula. The second one is fewer shops but more miles. For those who have never attended a shop hop, each store has created a block you can buy but no purchase is necessary. Each store stamps a corresponding square on your paper. If you manage all the shops, your name goes onto a drawing at your last stop and you’re entered into a drawing. Each store gives a $50 and $100 gift certificate. In addition you can win a basket worth around $250 as the grand prize. This fall all the blocks are Christmas themed. In addition, each store sells a quilt top kit that corresponds with the blocks. I think the blocks are around $9 each. If anyone is interested in riding with me, let me know and we can plan days.
