We had such a great time connecting with the community at the Agricultural Fair last week!

From talking about Lagoon Pond to sharing ways you can get involved in the LPA, it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and meet some new ones, too!

A healthy Lagoon Pond is a community effort, and we’re grateful for everyone who stopped by our Brightwater Tools UD Treatment Train Exhibit to ask questions, share ideas, or say hello!

EMERGENCY CODIUM ROUNDUP — THIS MONDAY! 🌿

We’re calling on our Lagoon Pond community to help with an emergency Codium roundup this Monday morning in partnership with the Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group!

Invasive Codium can spread quickly when it breaks apart and washes along the shoreline. By removing it, you can help protect the health of Lagoon Pond and its native ecosystem.

Whether you’ve volunteered before or this is your first roundup, we’d love to have you join us! Every bit removed makes a difference.

🌿BIODIVERSITY EVENT — TODAY! 🐟

Join the Lagoon Pond Association and the Great Pond Foundation for a hands-on family friendly biodiversity event at Doug’s Cove! We’ll use a seine net to explore the shoreline and get a closer look at the incredible variety of life living in and around Lagoon Pond.

SATURDAY, AUG 8 • NOON–2PM
📍 Doug’s Cove
(across the street from Eastville Beach)

These events are open to all and are a great way to engage directly with the Lagoon Pond ecosystem, learn more about the species that call it home, and see what we discover together!

Discover what’s living beneath the surface of Lagoon Pond!

Join the LPA and the Great Pond Foundation for a fun, family-friendly afternoon of exploring the pond’s rich marine life. Using a seine net, you’ll learn about the species that call Lagoon Pond home, their role in maintaining a healthy pond ecosystem, and the importance of protecting this special coastal resource.

This free event is open to all ages and is a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature, learn from local experts, and experience Lagoon Pond up close.

Couldn’t make it to our Codium Roundup? You can still make a difference for Lagoon Pond! 🌿🌊

Invasive codium can continue to spread when it washes up along the shoreline. By removing it from the beach and disposing of it properly, you can help slow its spread and support a healthier lagoon.

What a great week on Lagoon Pond!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this week.

From our Codium Roundup and our Biodiversity Event, we had a fantastic time spending the day together, removing invasive Codium, exploring the incredible biodiversity of the lagoon, and connecting with others who care about protecting this special place!

Every volunteer and effort makes a difference, and we’re so grateful to everyone who came out to lend a hand.

If you couldn’t make it this time, don’t worry! We have more events coming up, and we’d love to have you join us. Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to get involved and help care for Lagoon Pond.

Introducing “Adopt A Shoreline” — A Simple Way to Make a Big Difference
This Earth Day, the Lagoon Pond Association is launching a new community initiative: Adopt A Shoreline.

Our shoreline is one of our most valuable natural resources, but it depends on all of us. With this program, LPA members can take ownership of a small section of shoreline, helping to keep it clean, healthy, and thriving.

If you live on Lagoon Pond, we invite you to adopt your own shoreline, caring for the stretch right outside your home and becoming a visible steward of the water year-round.

Participants will:
• Care for a designated stretch of shoreline
• Remove trash and debris regularly
• Keep an eye out for issues that may impact water quality

As a thank-you—and a symbol of community pride—each participating household will receive a shoreline sign recognizing their stewardship.

Our goal is to create a visible network of neighbors working together to protect Lagoon Pond one stretch at a time.
