The touring world lost a real one yesterday.

We lost another one of our Brothers. ROCU would like to offer our most sincere condolences and prayers to all of the Family, friends and staff of Al Brown and “ Behind The Scenes Catering “.

Al Brown—founder of Behind The Scenes Catering out of Grand Rapids, Michigan—was more than a caterer… he was family to the road. For years, Al and his team fed the heartbeat of the industry, traveling city to city alongside some of the biggest R&B tours, making sure crews and artists alike were taken care of.

If you’ve ever been out there, you know—it’s not just about the food. It’s about the timing, the consistency, the care… and Al delivered all of that with pride. Long days, overnight drives, early load-ins… and somehow, he was always there with a hot meal and a warm spirit.

Behind the scenes is where the real work happens, and Al Brown was one of the ones who made it all possible.

Rest easy, Al. Your impact traveled farther than the miles you logged.

NEW RECORD 🏆 The Tour just made history as the highest-grossing R&B/Hip-Hop tour, ranking #4 across all concerts and now sitting as the 5 highest-grossing tour of ANY genre in the arena’s 50-year history.

LEGACY. IMPACT. CULTURE. 🖤

Congratulations to New Edition, Boyz II Men, Toni Braxton and the whole BPC family 👏🏽

THE POWER BEHIND THE CURTAIN: THE 3 E’s THAT CHANGE THE GAME

Behind every spotlight is a team.
Behind every sold-out arena is a crew.
Behind every legendary moment… are people most never see.

For people of color in the behind-the-scenes entertainment industry, the journey has required resilience, excellence, and often twice the preparation for half the recognition. That’s why the 3 E’s — Enlightenment, Encouragement, and Empowerment — are not optional. They’re essential.

Enlightenment — Understand the business beyond the job title. Learn the contracts, budgets, production logistics, union rules, touring systems, vendor relationships, and ownership structures. Knowledge is leverage. When you understand how the machine works, you’re no longer just operating within it — you’re positioned to influence it.

Encouragement — Many walk into production offices, loading docks, and control rooms where they don’t see themselves reflected. A recommendation. A mentorship. A phone call that says, “I’ve got someone ready.” Encouragement isn’t small — it’s strategic. It keeps talent in the room long enough to rise.

Empowerment — This is about decision-making power. Department heads. Production managers. Tour directors. Company owners. When we control resources and budgets, we shape culture, hiring, standards, and legacy. Participation is good. Ownership is transformative.

The stage gets the applause.
But the infrastructure builds the empire.

The next generation of lighting techs, riggers, stage managers, audio engineers, truck loaders, and tour accountants is watching. Let’s make sure they inherit access, not barriers.

When we enlighten, encourage, and empower each other, we don’t just survive the industry — we redefine it.
