I received a message from a lady I met on Facebook who said she wanted to serve at Open Door Community Kitchen. She told me she had two boys who wanted to serve in the community too.
I immediately thought, “Now that’s a mama after my own heart!” ❤️ That’s exactly how I raised my son, to understand that serving others isn’t something we just talk about. We show up and do the work.
So, I told her I would meet them there.
And let me tell you… they showed up, and those young men WORKED! 💪🏾 They jumped right in, helped wherever they were needed, and served with great attitudes. I was so proud watching them give their time and energy to help others.
But here’s the part that blessed me the most…
The volunteers at Open Door told us that right before I walked through the door, they had prayed for God to send them some help.
And then, we walked in. 🙌🏾
Sometimes God answers prayers with a miracle, and sometimes He sends people willing to serve.
Won’t He do it! 🙌🏾
Thank you to this wonderful mother for teaching her sons the importance of giving back, and thank you to these young men for reminding us that the next generation is watching, learning, and ready to serve.
Raise them to serve. Teach them to care. Then give them opportunities to put it into action. ❤️
We fed 48 people. Vine Grove first…why? Because we care.
