The Animal Refuge Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves Hardin and surrounding counties in Kentucky. ARC shelters animals and acts as an adoption agency, finding loving homes for all in its care. The Animal Refuge Center has a mission to educate on the humane treatment of animals and assist in finding spay/neuter solutions for the public.

Birdie, Finch, Pip and Martin are hoping you enjoyed your weekend! They just turned four weeks old and are learning how to use the litter box and starting to eat (and play in) wet food! Their favorite activities are screaming for food, climbing their playpen walls, and rolling around on their backs after their bellies are full!

🐾 FOSTER FRIDAY 🐾

Did you know that our employees also open up their hearts and home to fostering? Here we have Camie, who joined us in 2021.

Here's why she chose to foster ...
"I started fostering after about a year of volunteering at ARC as a dog-walker. My first foster was a neonatal kitten named Scarlet, she was my first foster and my first foster fail! Sadly, we lost her about a year later to FIP.
Although, losing her broke our hearts, the drive to help other animals in need grew stronger. We started taking the tougher cases of kittens and puppies that needed more socialization, special care or just tough to adopt cases. This was a challenge, as in some cases, the cats and dogs we took on decided that our house was now THEIR house, so a few more stayed put!
Although, we have helped many cats and dogs find their forever homes and we continue to make room for those who need us the most! Our current pack includes one dog (foster fail) and nine of our own cats, and nine foster cats and kittens. We are "empty nesters", and since our daughter is grown and moved out, we have lots of time and space for our furbabies!"

Thank you Camie for stepping up, not only as an employee, but volunteer and foster!

Tonight we said thank you and farewell to a longtime employee and friend! Linda has given ARC 18 years and we couldn't be more appreciative of her compassion and hard work for the animals! Enjoy your retirement Linda, you will be missed, but you have made your mark on ARC and the lives of so many animals. ❤️
