UPDATE!
Little man, now named Peanut went to the vet this morning. Vet said although there is much damage to skin tissue, his prognosis is positive. He is eating on his own and drinking, no diarrhea, which is amazing because that would have been a big issue to keeping him clean, some damage to the ge***al area, however he is emptying his bladder as of now. He may lose his tail. Dr. Beismer said if he had been brought in the day I took him she would have suggested euthanasia but luckily, I was able to remove all maggots from the open area, flush the wound and keeping it as clean as possible. He was given Bravecto to kill any possible maggots left internally and fingers crossed there aren't any, cause EW. He's on antibiotics. He is a complete lovebug! Makes the bestest biscuits and craves attention. I think he knows how lucky he is that he was found. I will continue to update. I can not thank Dr. Ruth Beismer enough!

Today was hard. A lady came in to petsmart during an adoption event carry a kitten about 5-6wks. I thought maybe she was there to buy a new carrier for a new kitten. She walked up and handed me this baby wrapped in a paper towel saying she just found him on the side of the road and that he is "leaking worms". I took the kitty already knowing what I was going to find. The kitten was literally being eaten alive by maggots.
If EVER there was a reason to spay and neuter your pets, this would be.it. This time of year, every unwanted kitten left out in the world to fend for itself because people refuse to take on the responsibility to spay/neuter, their offspring perish so often by being eaten alive. There is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE to not spay and neuter. Right now in our community there are several places, in and around Hardin County offering low cost and FREE options. All you have to do is make an appointment.
Please call any local vet, shelter or pet store around and they can give you resources. Just GOOGLE for heavens sake. Youll find a list.
Its absolutely pathetic for any person to throw away any animal and allow them to die like this.
NO EXCUSE!
Go to the Animal Refuge Center website for an entire list of low cost spay and neuter options in hardin and surrounding counties

GOOD MEWS MONDAY!!!

Congrats to our three kitties that went home last week! Apollo, Atlas, and Yahtzee we are so happy for you and thankful that your forever family picked YOU!

Apollo and Atlas were found as kittens with their four other sisters, these two were seen by a previous adopter who was looking to add another kitty to the family. So, she came in to meet the boys and decide who would be a good fit... Well that proved to be an impossible task, so both adorable boys went home with her and are now best friends with their big kitty sister!

Yahtzee is the last of the "Game Night" kittens to be officially adopted! She and her siblings were brought to a kind caregiver's home (who just happens to be Yahtzee's adopter!) by their mom, asking for help. ARC took in the kittens and helped mom get spayed, so no more kittens! Mom was not a fan of us, so she is happily living her life in her colony. Yahtzee is spoiled rotten and is so happy in her forever home!

A huge thank you to last week’s adopters, welcome to the ARC family!!! We really appreciate all who adopt from us. Feel free to drop a picture in the comments and let us know how your furbaby is doing since being adopted. We love seeing all our former residents in their forever homes!

Siblings, Hyacinth and Clover, and their beautiful mom, Violet, were all approved to go home together this month. Their potential adopters were waiting for the babies to be fully vetted and once they were... the adoption fell through 😢. This little family has waited for months, and they became very close anticipating a life together. We know it's a tough sell to send three cats to the same home, but if anyone is out there looking for an amazing trio, we have them!!! If not, we think that Violet would adapt well to a new home on her own, but the kittens would really love to stay together.

Please share their story and help us find their forever home!

After 2 weeks of tube feeding every 2 hours, day and night, this sweet little girl, Trinket is starting to drink from the ni**le on her own!! I've been struggling for the last 2 months, losing kitten after kitten from fading kitten syndrome. This is a huge win! I think ive found a good protocol to continue helping the tiniest babies have a new chance at life and finding their best friend!

GOOD MEWS MONDAY!!!

Congrats to our four kitties that went home last week! Ducky, Glacier, Quinn and Piper we are so happy for you and thankful that your forever family picked YOU!

Ducky was found as a stray in a parking lot, his rescuers were able to bring him in and care for him until ARC could get him neutered. While in his foster home, he turned out to be a complete love bug! He stole the heart of a family that had previously adopted from ARC, and so we know he’ll be in great hands! He is super sweet, playful and lots of fun! We think he’ll love having a kitty brother about his age to play and snuggle with!

Glacier and his brothers, Frost (adopted) and Tundra (still available at PetSmart!) were found as kittens weathering the ice storm. Luckily, they found the right house to take shelter and they were brought in from the cold. Their rescuer was able to foster them temporarily until we could get a more permanent foster set up for them. Glacier sounds cold, but he can melt hearts, just ask his family!

Quinn and Piper were found as kittens with their four other siblings, and they went into a foster home, where they built a strong bond! Their dad saw them at PetSmart and knew they would be the purrfect addition to the family and they are so excited to get to stay together forever!

A huge thank you to last week’s adopters, welcome to the ARC family! We really appreciate all who adopt from us. Feel free to drop a picture in the comments and let us know how your furbaby is doing since being adopted.
