KCHS did have a gas leak today, found by a wonderful community member who called it in.🥰

All cats are safe and we are working to repair the problem.

Thank you to the Vincennes Fire Department for your rapid response.
Thank you Vincennes Animal Shelter for helping us get the message.

This is the kind of thing your support makes possible. 💛

Recently, KCHS was able to donate Joan’s ear surgery through Dr. Roy Swonder so she could get the care she needed.

Your support helps us continue work like this, along with TNR, low-cost veterinary care, and helping animals in our community get the care they need.

If you’ve ever considered becoming a monthly sponsor of the Knox County Humane Society, even a small recurring donation helps us keep saying yes when an animal needs us. 🐾

So let’s see them!

Drop a photo of your pet in the comments — cats, dogs, bunnies, reptiles, farm animals, tiny weirdos… we want them all. 💙

Consider this your Monday Pet Tax. 📸

Betty White would like to personally invite you to come see her today. 💅🐱

And by “invite,” we mean stare at you dramatically, roll around, make kissy faces, and shamelessly demand attention until you give in. 😂

Come visit Betty and the rest of the cats at Knox County Humane Society today between 9 AM and 2 PM — and do a little shopping while you’re here!

🎉❄️ KITTY COOL DOWN IS FULLY FUNDED!!! ❄️🎉

We originally set out to raise $4,500 for our new A/C project — and you all blew right past it.

Together, we raised $4,975, which ended up covering almost exactly the full final cost after installation. 🥹🐾

That means this project is officially DONE and PAID FOR thanks to everyone who donated, shared, attended fundraisers, shopped with us, and helped us keep pushing toward the finish line.

Our kitties now have a cool, comfortable space to call home, and we didn’t have to pull those costs from the funds that keep our everyday lifesaving work going.

Thank you for making Kitty Cool Down happen. ❤️❄️🐱

Now that the kitties are cool…

LET’S GO FIX SOME KITTIES. 😎✂️🐈🐈‍⬛

💔 In Memory of Cricket 💔

We tried, sweet boy.

Cricket was found sick in a colony and brought to us so we could give him a chance. We hoped that with warmth, food, medical care, and a whole lot of love, he could fight his way back.

But Cricket was already too sick, and despite our efforts, we couldn’t save him. 😢

What we could do was make sure he wasn’t alone. He was warm. He was safe. He was cared for. And for the time he was with us, he knew that his little life mattered.

Sometimes rescue doesn’t get the ending we desperately want. Sometimes all we can give them is comfort, dignity, and love at the end.

Rest easy, Cricket. You mattered. 🐾💙
