Late post: In December 2025 we had a " Take an Adventurer to 'Work' Day". Two of our adventurers and Coach Jessica accompanied me as I journeyed to visit clients. As a business coach I have the privilege of helping entrepreneurs of small businesses find ways to grow their businesses. It is an AWESOME privilege!

We visited with Amanda at Harmony Equestrian Services, LLC, in Deville, Louisiana. The mission of Equestrian Services, LLC is to provide a stable place in an unstable world—where people and horses come together to grow, heal, and find balance. Through equine-assisted learning, we empower individuals to build confidence, emotional awareness, and resilience. We believe in teaching lifemanship through horsemanship, fostering skills that extend far beyond the arena to create harmony in everyday life. Check them out at https://www.harmonyequestrianservices.com

Then, we visited Mel at Ol' Mel's Farm, LLC in Deville, Louisiana, Cenla’s Family Friendly Petting Farm. At Ol' Mel's you can indulge in an afternoon full of unforgettable experiences for the whole family as you meet our charming family of cows, sheep, rabbits, ducks, geese, chickens, and miniature horses. Mel offers party packages and mobile petting zoos. Check them out at https://www.olmelsfarm.com

Both ladies work together to offer comprehensive packages of exciting, yet peaceful experiences. If you have not heard of them, I encourage you to check them out.

The adventurers and coach Jessica had a blast during this short visit, so we are planning on taking our adventurers for a weekend retreat late summer 2026. Donations are welcomed to give the adventurers an awesome experience. Donations can be made thru our website--sockac.com

Okie dokie! I can finally see clear of the happy tears to post on this!
Yesterday was nothing short of another amazing blessing from God! Thank God for the organizers of the MLK Foundation for choosing me for such an esteemed award. Pastor Jermaine Tezeno and his team usually tell me when things are happening, but this time not one of them gave me " the tea"!!! I am beyond grateful to receive this honor. Whew! Oh boy! Eyes getting blurry again! Whew! OK. When I got the instruction for God to return home I honestly thought it was about something else. But God had a plan all along and I am deeply grateful for Him choosing me. A special thanks to Pastors Steven and Sarahi Sawtelle. In the beginning I could not understand why I kept going to the coffeehouse because I DO NOT like coffee!! But it was the countless conversations and prayers with them that helped me to clearly see what purpose God had for me. There have been many of you in Evangeline Parish who has been a part of my journey. Some of you prayed late at night with me. Some of you stayed on the phone with me in the wee hours, encouraging me. Some of you gave an word or a smile or a donation of some sort. My babies in SOCKAC-- whew! To see the positive growth in them is motivating to keep moving forward. The young ladies and young men with whom i have spoken with, encouraging them to make good choices. For everyone who walked these past three years with me, I dedicate this award to you. Everyone of you are my heroes! Most of all my deepest gratitude goes to God, my Saviour, my bestest friend, my confidant, my provider, my protector, my everything! I continue to do what I always encourage others to do--
Keep looking up and moving forward!

LATE POST
November 23, 2025 was one amazingly blessed day for our community in Ville Platte, Louisiana! People from all walks of life and some from the Opelousas and Eunice area gathered together to embrace the experience of "Thanksgiving Dinner at Grandma's Table". We served a total of 327 guests!
Our second annual community Thanksgiving Day Dinner was hosted by Cajun Gems Culinary (a division of SOCKAC), Devoted Catering, City of Ville Platte, Freedom Family Church, and X'Cellence Events, LLC. Our monetary sponsors were Charm Industries, Sherman Place Event Center and ELE Construction, Bobby Goudy, Evangeline Farm Bureau, Darion Arvie, and St. John Baptist Church. Our in kind sponsors were Angela Fontenot and Savoy Hospital, Southwest Credit Union, City of Ville Platte and Ville Platte Police Department, Devoted Catering, Fundamentally Structured 357, LLC, Zion Travelers Baptist Church, Christine Sam and her team, T'Johnson Resource Center, St. James Teen Ministry, Sue Pomier, Daniel Arvie, St. Peter Baptist Church, and Freedom Family Church,
Chef D. Caesar and his assistants Shannon and Mrs. T. Johnson(overseer of all foods), LaKeitha Griffith (overseer of decorations, set up, and table service), and Sarahi Sawtelle (overseer of delivery, greeting, and table service) operated with grace and coached their teams in providing a exceptional, inviting, and peaceful service to our guests. A total of 40 turkeys were prepared and cooked by the following individuals/groups: John Deville and his team at Cajun Catfish, Kirk Ortego, Kayra Guillory, Laura Anderson, Carol Steckler, Nicole Day, Wilfred Jack, Darnell Dimmick, Knights of Columbus, Council 1754 (Dane and Allen), and our very own Coach in training Mozie Sanchez! Each cook show cased their own special recipe. There were Caribbean Style Jerk Turkey, Cajun Butter Turkey with Herb and Garlic, Roasted Garlic Turkey with Lemon Pepper, deep fried turkey (onsite), air fried turkey (onsite), oven roasted turkey, and Peruvian Turkey. Mayor Ryan seized the stove as he put his special touch on the rice dressing. Chef Caesar and his team cooked up some yummy-yum yams, tasty green beans with bacon, and some oh my God delicious corn! Mrs. T. Johnson and the Teen Ministry, St. James Baptist Church baked and package cupcakes of different flavors and the team at Cajun Gems Culinary decorated them on site!
Sarahi and LaKeitha, along with their teams greeted the guests at the door, escorted them to a seat, and served them. Madame Jessica and her team provided games, arts and crafts for the kids to enjoy. There was a coloring and craft contest! After dining, some took advantage of relaxing in one of the rocking chairs. There were several backdrops for picture taking. Santa (Barney Fontenot) made a surprise visit and the kids were not shy about telling him what they wanted for Christmas!
This celebration was completely outside text-book version of a Thanksgiving Day Dinner. The guests who attended enjoyed the unity of dining and visiting together as a community family. This was one epic day for our community!
