Our Miss Poet was taken to Southern Crescent Equine this morning. We haven’t announced but here it is !! She’s gonna have a baby. No one was sure of when it happened but we found out a few weeks ago and immediately moved her off fescue. Fescue can cause toxosis ( I think I said that right) in pregnant mares that creates issues if the mare isn’t removed from fescue 60-90 days before foaling. Yesterday our Vet determined based on eye measurements, her demeanor, and position of foal that she would go in labor as soon as this weekend or within two weeks. We decided rather than take chances we preferred she be close to vets who can handle any situation. I spent the night watching Poet last night and this morning took her to the vets facility. She was very upset when we left but Poet comes first. Prayers and good vibes appreciated!

Memory that popped up today! Jerry Lee was our first rescue and quickly became a life changing buddy. He came to us at 28 yrs old with severe EPM. Told my wife if she could pull it off to bury me beside Jerry if anything ever happens! Such a precious soul I miss every day.
