Goldworth Farm Park

Goldworth Farm Park Goldworth Farm Park is a historic farm and potential house museum in Villa Rica, Georgia. The 1891 f Williams.

In 1872, John Worth Williams purchased the first tract of land that would become Goldworth Farm, then called Mountain John Williams Farm. When his son Felix took charge of the farm in 1905, it was called the Felix Williams Farm, even though John Worth’s wife, Martha Caldonia, managed affairs on the farm from her seat in the “Mother’s room”. The family called it Goldworth Farm from 1926 on, from g

old, which was actually found on the property by a panner and predicted by a local “prophet,” Mahaly Lancaster; and Worth, the middle name of John W.

Second post on the gas station: while driving on GA Hwy 19 through Glenwood, I noticed the remains of a gas station that probably looks a little like the one my Williams famiily ran.

Goldworth Farm Park as a property is now a part of the Avemore development in Villa Rica, GA. I hope to post more information on it soon. Meanwhile:
Back in the early 20th century, my Williams family who lived on the place had a gas station on what was then the Villa Rica-Carrollton road. My great aunts, Amy and May Williams, who lived on the place, sold pimento cheese sandwiches there. This is according to an article in the Villa Rican which, to my great regret, I can't find. But my dad and I found the supporting rock pillars that held it up.

Between 1937 and 1942, there was a Civilian Conservation Corps camp (CCC) in the northwest quadrant of the Goldworth property. I wonder if there are any CCC corpsmen or their relatives left in the area.

On May 30 (sorry for the late posting!) Goldworth Farm Park received its determination letter from the IRS after an almost two-year wait. We are now a 501(c)(3) public charity. We are now in the process of bringing in new board members and approving a plan for 2015.
