🇺🇸 FROM ONE VETERAN TO ANOTHER — SEPTEMBER 11 🇺🇸
Today, I’m not speaking to you from a title, a position, or a profession. I’m speaking to you as a fellow Veteran.
On September 11, I know some of us remember exactly where we were, what we were doing, and how we felt when we realized our world had changed. For some, what happened that day would eventually change where we were sent, what we were asked to do, and what we would carry home with us.
So today, I simply want to say to my fellow Veterans: I see you.
I see the strength it took to serve, but I also recognize the strength it takes to keep going after the uniform comes off. I understand that some memories don't disappear just because years have passed. Some names still bring a smile. Some names still bring tears. Some experiences are difficult to explain to anyone who wasn't there.
And sometimes, another Veteran doesn't need you to explain.
We just understand.
If today feels heavier for you, you don't have to pretend that it doesn't. If you're remembering someone, honor them. If you need to talk, reach out. And if you're doing well today, reach back and check on another Veteran who may not be.
Because our responsibility to one another didn't end when our service did.
We served together. We sacrificed together. And we can continue showing up for one another.
So on this September 11, from one Veteran to another, I want you to know:
Your service mattered.
Your sacrifices mattered.
The people you remember matter.
And you still matter.
Today, I remember with you.
Today, I honor with you.
And today, just like yesterday and tomorrow, I've got your six. 🇺🇸
We remember. We honor. We never forget.
