Angie's Testimony - A Story of God's Restoration, Healing, and New Beginnings

Hi, my name is Angie. From the outside looking in, my family may have seemed perfect, but behind closed doors, it was anything but. Much of my childhood was consumed by alcohol, drugs, and abuse from my mother. I had a stepfather who did his best to hold our family together, but the pain and chaos in our home continued to grow. As the abuse got worse, I eventually left home at 14 years old and moved in with family friends.

At 16, I met a man who would change the course of my life. By the time I was 19, I had two children and had gone to jail for the first time. During this season, I was introduced to crack co***ne, and before long, I found myself back in jail again. The man I met at 16 pulled me into what would become the hardest chapter of my life - a chapter that lasted 25 years. Those years were filled with drugs, jail, fear, mental abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and constant uncertainty. I never knew what was going to happen next. My life felt controlled by chaos, addiction, and survival. Over time, I lost everything that had ever meant anything to me. I lost custody of my daughter. I lost relationships with my dad and my brother. I lost pieces of myself along the way, and for a long time, I did not know if I would ever get any of it back.

But even when I could not see Him, God was still working.

Eventually, I made my way to Ohio to escape the abuse of my ex. At the time, I may not have understood it, but God knew exactly what He was doing. That path led me to Hannah's House.

And Hannah's House has changed my life.

The sisterhood I found here has shown me that I am not alone. I have learned that my life does not have to be filled with abuse, fear, addiction, and chaos. I have learned that I am worthy of love, healing, peace, and a new beginning. I have learned that God can restore what the enemy tried to destroy.

Today, I am learning who I am in Christ. I have learned how to trust God and believe that He always has my best interest at heart, no matter what I am facing. I have learned how to forgive, how to heal, how to set boundaries, and how to walk in freedom. God is teaching me how to love others in a healthy way and how to allow myself to be loved without fear.

My past is part of my story, but it does not get to define my future. What the enemy meant to use to destroy me, God is using to rebuild me. He is restoring my heart, my hope, my identity, and my life one day at a time.

I am grateful for Hannah's House, for the women who have walked beside me, for the staff who have loved me through this process, and most of all, for a God who never gave up on me.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

We want to send a heartfelt thank you to some beautiful sisters in Christ from North Mar Church for blessing the women of Hannah’s House with their time, skills, and supplies to help us plant a garden. 🌱💕

Your willingness to come alongside our women and pour into them through something so meaningful is such a gift. This garden is more than just plants in the ground — it is a picture of growth, patience, care, and the beauty God brings when seeds are planted in good soil.

Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus and for helping create a space where our women can learn, grow, and be reminded that God is always working beneath the surface.

“They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor.” — Isaiah 61:3 🌿

Today we honor and remember a beautiful life, a powerful testimony, and a woman who will forever be part of the heart of Hannah’s House — Jessica Bova 🤍

Jessica graduated from our one-year program on August 30, 2024, after courageously battling addiction for most of her life. What we witnessed in her was nothing short of transformation. She didn’t just complete a program — she embraced a new life, surrendered fully, and allowed God to rewrite her story.

After graduation, Jessica experienced the restoration so many pray for. She reconnected with her family and stepped into the role of mother with strength, love, and intention — becoming the mom her three boys had always longed for and deserved. That kind of redemption is sacred, and she carried it with such grace.

In February, Jessica received a cancer diagnosis — and she faced that battle the same way she faced everything else in her life: with courage, faith, and remarkable strength. She fought hard. She fought with everything she had. And even in the midst of that fight, her light never dimmed.

Jessica didn’t stop pouring into others. She obtained her peer support certification and continued to serve in the recovery community, going above and beyond to reach women still lost in the darkness of addiction — reminding them that freedom is possible. She didn’t just speak hope… she lived it.

She was a bright light — full of love, compassion, and unwavering faith. The kind of light that changes a room. The kind of light that points people straight to Jesus.

Jessica’s life is a testimony of Isaiah 61:3 — “He gives beauty for ashes.” And she carried that beauty boldly, helping others believe that their ashes could become something more too.

While our hearts grieve, we also rejoice in knowing that her story did not end here. The seeds she planted, the lives she touched, and the love she gave will continue to ripple through this community for years to come.

Jessica, you were deeply loved. You are deeply missed. And your legacy will never be forgotten.

✝️🌅 He is Risen! 🌅✝️

This Easter, we are reminded that no matter how broken a story may seem, God is always in the business of redemption, restoration, and new beginnings. At Hannah’s House, we witness that truth every single day. 💜🦋

Lives are being transformed. Chains are being broken. Hope is being restored. Because the same power that raised Jesus from the grave is still alive and working today. 🙌

“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” — Matthew 28:6

We are so grateful for each woman who walks through our doors and for the opportunity to walk alongside them as they discover healing, purpose, and the love of Christ.

From all of us at Hannah’s House, we pray you have a blessed and joyful Easter filled with His peace, His love, and the promise of new life. ✨

We are so grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside Warren Family Mission at their annual Community Easter Meal this year. 💜✨

Our women from Hannah’s House had the blessing of volunteering—serving meals 🍽️, sharing smiles 😊, and being the hands and feet of Jesus to our community 🙌✝️.
It’s always so powerful to witness how far they’ve come—once in need themselves, and now giving back with joyful, servant hearts 💜💫.
Easter reminds us of redemption, new life, and the hope we have in Christ 🌅✝️—and that message filled the room. From warm meals to even warmer conversations 🫶, it was such a beautiful reflection of God’s love in action 💜✨.
We are incredibly proud of our women and so thankful to be part of a community that comes together to love, serve, and uplift others 🤝💜.
