Today is World Day Against Child Labor.

Children should be children — in classrooms and on playgrounds, not in mines, fields, and factories.

But 138 million children are in child labor worldwide. 1 in every 13. More than half are under the age of 12, and 54 million are in hazardous work that threatens their health and safety.

The work is concentrated in two regions: 87 million children in Sub-Saharan Africa, which alone accounts for nearly 2 in 3 cases worldwide, and 17 million across Central and Southern Asia.

The world set a goal to end child labor by 2025. That target was missed. To reach it now, progress would need to move 11 times faster than it has.

Grateful to be invited to Do Good at UMD’s Changemaker Pathways panel 💙

We shared the Touch of Life journey and had the chance to connect with students who are just starting to explore social impact, from the Do Good Challenge to internships, certificates, and other impact experiences. It was amazing to see how inspired and engaged the students were, excited to hear our story and eager to think about how they can make a difference themselves.
Being in a room full of people who genuinely care about creating change was truly motivating.

In the United States, more than 1 million children are affected each year, and 4 to 7 children die each day from abuse and neglect.

This April, we are focusing on awareness and real action. At Touch of Life, that means supporting children, strengthening communities, and doing the work that often goes unseen.
