Period Action Day was Saturday, and you funded 487 months of period supplies for women in Northern Virginia, well past our goal of 450.

We’re so close to 500 that we’re keeping the campaign open through Friday. Thirteen more gifts of $10 gets us there.

Pads and tampons can't be bought with SNAP or WIC. About 2 in 5 people who menstruate have struggled to afford them.

Every month, BRAWS delivers new period supplies to shelters, schools and food pantries across Northern Virginia. In 2024, that reached 42,512 people through 81 partner organizations.

Students have been back in school for a month and likely have the notebooks, binders, pens, and highlighters they need to get through the school year. Yet many are still struggling to access another essential school supply: period supplies.

Did you know that 1 in 4 students in the US struggle to afford period products? Without access to pads or tampons, students may miss school or have difficulty concentrating.

BRAWS provides period products and new undergarments to more than 40 local schools and we can't do it without your help.

Every donation—whether products or monetary support—helps ensure students have what they need to attend school, participate fully, and thrive. Because period supplies ARE school supplies.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Michael Amouri, beloved owner of Caffe Amouri in Vienna, VA.

Michael was more than a local business owner, he was a supporter of our community. Over the years he generously hosted collection drives for BRAWS, securing much needed donations for the women and girls we serve in our area.

Michael was a pillar of the Vienna community and his generosity, warmth and kindness will be missed by all. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.

A new school year has begun! And with that comes new routines, new challenges, and plenty of opportunities for students to learn and grow.

But being ready for school means having more than notebooks and pencils. Students also need access to the everyday essentials that allow them to participate fully and feel confident in the classroom.

Last year, BRAWS served more than 40 schools throughout our community by providing period products and new undergarments directly to students. Your support helps us keep these essentials available to students throughout the school year. Period supplies ARE school supplies.

💔 **“The first step is always the hardest, but you’ll never know unless you try.” — Dolly Parton**

Today, we honor a woman who inspired us not only with her extraordinary talent, but with the way she used her success to lift others up.

Dolly understood something we believe deeply at BRAWS:

**Kindness can become a ripple.**

One person gives. Another person is helped. Someone else is inspired to give. And before long, an entire community is making life a little better for people who need support.

At BRAWS, we see that ripple every day.

A bra donated by one woman can help another woman feel comfortable, confident and seen. Period products collected by a community can help a girl or woman attend school, go to work and move through her day with dignity.

Dolly’s life was a reminder that generosity doesn’t have to be complicated. You simply start with what you have and use it to help someone else.
