PMC Trip Report,Thurmont Watershed (5/10/25) - as we started our approach up to Ed Rocks crag, our eager troupe included PMC members Rebecca, Marc, Max, Frank, Kinsey, and Bethany. The approach was a bit steep, but fairly short, and we forged ahead!
Over the river and
through the woods
Towards Ed Rocks crag

The cairn marks the way
towards exhilarating
days
Amidst the woodlands
and river that flows
Clear but bustling, this climbing sanctuary was receptive to our raucous passion and adventure. There were six of us on the trip with a montage of experience among the tribe. Those more skillful purposely set up the top ropes while those with less exposure to anchor systems watched, asked questions, and learned.
Here's where we set up camp: Thurmont Watershed Area - TWS Rocks - Ed Rocks. All but one climb from today are in Ed Rocks:
Tombstone 5.9
Green Eggs 5.6
Green Streak 5.8+
Divya's Green
Catastrophe 5.7
The second round of three ropes also covered four climbs:
Autumn Splendor 5.8
So Much Fun 5.6
Quarantine Crack 5.7
Captive Corner 5.9*
We can't say who climbed/finished what routes. We can say that we all engaged in a number of routes of varying difficulties, including intentional and intentional variations of the routes. And we believe we can say we all had a great time and look forward to doing it again!
The passion, determination, and thrill was brought out in all of us on the wall. The people in this group barely knew each other, if at all, prior to this trip. But it is a testament to the climbing community and each one in this group how efficient, balanced, and gracefully the trip evolved.
It also seems like a well maintained climbing area and surroundings, which is always refreshing. Let's always practice Good Climber Ed-iquitte and go out of our way to leave the crags better than we found them.
