We had a big time tonight at our 7th annual reading with Santa. We enjoyed booths set up by community partners, treats, special Christmas songs sang by the children’s choir, door prizes, book reading and pictures with Santa! Thank you to everyone who came out tonight and as always we are so grateful to our K-8 Academy and their partnership and all they do for our children!

SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM! PLEASE SHARE

Exciting News! Starting on Thursday, June 5th and happening every Thursday until July 28, we will be partnering with the Black Lotus Project to offer a summer feeding program. This is open to all parents, grandparents and care givers. Please come with the names of each child you will be picking up food for. They will receive breakfast and lunch items to last for 5 days. The times and locations are listed below.

Every Thursday

Vienna - Dooly Recreation Department - 3 pm to 4 pm

Unadilla - Lighted Lantern (1606 Borum St) - 5 pm to 6 pm

This time of year we are so very thankful for all of our partners who come along side of us to offer hope to children at Christmas. Last night we had the pleasure of joining an office Christmas party for On Point Marketing and picking up a load of older children presents (these are the hardest for us to come by). We really appreciate Chris Forsythe, his lovely wife and their amazing team at On Point for this donation. If your business or organization would like to come along side of us to offer hope this Christmas there is still time. Thanks again On Point.

We had the most amazing time at reading with Santa tonight. This is one of our favorite events every year. We would like to thank all of our community partners that came out and set up booths with activities for the kids. Every booth was wonderful. We would also like to thank the Dooly County School system and the K8 Academy for always being such awesome partners and always supporting/partnering with us on events! Santa and Mrs. Claus didn’t disappoint and Mrs. Claus read a book to everyone in attendance. We ended the night with pictures and every child getting a prize, an elf and a book. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this such a great event!

We had the best time today at the community book bash! We had the opportunity to hand out books, how to read to your child at home literature, book marks, stickers and mental health resource directory cards. Algee bear was in attendance to help share mental health resources with families and promote our positive action trainings and our youth mental health first aid trainings. We saw so many fabulous families and got to spend the morning promoting literacy with some really awesome people and organizations. We look forward to next year.

Such a fun night at the K-8 stem night! The kids had a blast and every booth was so fun and interesting! Family connection assisted our dear friend and partner Earl Clark with communities in schools with the pop corn popping booth! It was a great event and the school did a fabulous job!

Algee bear, tha mascot for our Youth Mental Health First Aid, was also in attendance and had the opportunity to share mental health resources in the community.

READ ACROSS AMERICA!!!!!

We are hard at work on literacy in Dooly! We have a huge group of partners that are dedicated to assisting our children and their families with reading and literacy in general.

Our collaborative partners just celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Seuss by going to the k-8 academy, Headstart and Fullington Academy and reading to classes. We were also joined by the newly formed Dooly County Kiwanis club. We had tons of fun and read lots of fun books! We are looking forward to all the amazing programs and activities to come surrounding literacy.

Family connection just wrapped up
It’s annual planning and boy did we have a good time! We really appreciate all the love and support that the partners give and their love for the families and children in Dooly county. Please reach out to Amanda if you are interested in being apart of the amazing work the collaborative has planned surrounding literacy and economic self sufficiency. We would love to have you join us.

One of our big projects this year is Youth Mental Health First Aid training and Positive Action training. Our mascot ALGEE attended the meeting and as always he stole the show!
