We had the opportunity to ask Elsie Hasting, founder of Gorda’s Goodies, LLC, a few questions about her Peruvian heritage, the inspiration behind her recipes, and what makes her alfajores so special. Here's what she had to say!✨

Q: What inspired Gorda’s Goodies, LLC signature alfajores?
A: Baking alfajores brings back cherished childhood memories spent in the kitchen with family, especially during holidays and special gatherings. Growing up, these traditional Peruvian treats were always made with love, patience, and togetherness. Those moments inspired the creation of Gorda’s Goodies, LLC, sharing authentic homemade flavors that remind people of warmth, family traditions, and joyful memories.
Q: What makes these desserts special?
A: Every alfajor is rooted in Peruvian culture and tradition. From the use of authentic ingredients like anise sourced directly from Peru to recipes passed down and perfected over time, each dessert carries a story. What began as a family recipe has grown into a way of sharing culture and creating connection through food.
Q: What do you hope people feel when they try your treats?
A: Gorda’s Goodies, LLC hopes every bite sparks joy, nostalgia, and comfort. Whether it reminds someone of home, childhood, or a special memory with loved ones, the goal is to create desserts that people not only enjoy, but remember. Food has a special way of bringing people together, and these treats are meant to do exactly that.
