Yesterday Maria Mitchell Chapter and Bill of Rights Chapter donated 114 books out of the 142 books collected by Districe V and District VIII for Woodbridge Elementary. Woodbridge Elementary is the newest Elementary school in Prince William County. We were excited to be able to provide their new library with more American History and Pre-K books!
Liz and I will get the remaining books to the school once Amazon gets them delivered!

On Sunday June 14th, Maria Mitchell Chapter participated in two amazing Flag Day Celebrations!

First, we headed to Chesterbrook Residences for a Flag Changing Ceremony and Bench Dedication. Maria Mitchell donated a new American Flag and Virginia State Flag. The Bench is a Trex Bench that was earned by Maria Mitchell Chapter and Fairfax Chapter in 2022 when we completed the Trex Challenge of collecting 1,00 pounds of plastic bags and film.

Then we headed to the Freeman Store and Museum for a Flag Day Celebration and Colonial Fair with Historic Vienna Inc, Vienna250!, and Fairfax Chapter. Maria Mitchell Chapter Members ran the Silhouette activity and helped with the children activities. A highlight of the event was meeting General and Mrs. Washington.

Thank you to all members who showed up and participated in either event!

On this 24th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the in , the in , and in let us remember those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack on our country. We remember those who fought to save survivors at the risk to their own lives.

On this day, we pray for peace; we pray for an end to violence and hate.

We all know that we should be recycling, reducing single-use items and re-using what we have; but have you ever wondered what all those recycling numbers are for? What do they all mean?
These numbers, typically found on our , organize items by chemical composition and plastic type, and can let you know if your item should, or can, be recycled, or if it really does belong in the trash. It's true, some plastics can't be recycled at all! 😒
