Today, we were deeply blessed by the generosity and love of Calvary on Aimwell
Pastor Efton Green shared a powerful message on generosity—a message that Calvary faithfully lives out every day. From the very beginning of The Refuge, Calvary has stood beside us as one of our first monthly supporters, faithfully investing in this ministry and the lives we serve. Their commitment to both foreign and local missions is a beautiful reflection of God’s heart for people.

Today, they went above and beyond their regular support with a special gift that will help us continue providing hope, healing, and assistance to victims in our community. But their generosity extends far beyond financial giving. Time and again, they have faithfully covered us in prayer, and that support means more than words can express.

The prayer offered today was especially moving—not only lifting up The Refuge as an agency, but also passionately interceding for every individual and family who comes through our doors seeking help, safety, and restoration. We are truly grateful for a church that cares so deeply about the people we serve.

🗣️“You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to care enough to help find them.”

If someone trusts you enough to disclose abuse:

✓ Listen.
✓ Believe them.
✓ Avoid judgment.
✓ Ask what support looks like.
✓ Connect them to resources.

❌You don’t have to be the expert.
✅You just have to be the safe person.

😥And if you’re the person receiving that disclosure, it’s okay to feel overwhelmed or unsure of what to do next. Those conversations can feel heavy and intimidating.

📲If you don’t know where to connect someone, start by calling your local domestic violence program. Advocates are there not only to support survivors, but also to provide education, guidance, and help you navigate what comes next. They can help you process what you’ve heard and connect that person to the right resources.

👉🏼And if your first call isn’t helpful, don’t stop there. Reach out to another organization, even one outside your area.

Tragic and senseless 😢

💔 Tragedy in Dublin, Georgia: Nurse and New Bride Tiffani Scarborough Killed by Husband

In June 2021, Tiffani Jade Scarborough, a 25-year-old OB/GYN nurse, devoted mother, and newlywed, was murdered in her home just 59 days after marrying her husband, Benjamin Lee Whitaker, 37, a former nurse. Authorities say Whitaker shot Tiffani multiple times in the kitchen, then fled, only to be arrested later in Wilkinson County.

During the investigation, Whitaker admitted he killed her because he had “snapped” after she chastised him for drinking, a shocking justification for ending the life of his wife and the mother of his child. He was charged with malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assaults.

After a mistrial in September 2025, Whitaker’s March 2026 retrial ended in a unanimous guilty verdict, and on April 28-29, 2026, he was sentenced to life without parole.

Tiffani is remembered as a caring mother, passionate nurse, and dedicated professional, and her family continues to honor her memory while raising awareness about the warning signs of domestic violence and the devastating consequences of abuse within intimate relationships.
