NEW SERVICE ALERT! We are excited to share that we now provide Ampcare, a speech/swallowing therapy. Ampcare is a treatment system used for people with dysphagia (difficulty swallowing).
What does Ampcare do?
Ampcare’s Effective Swallowing Protocol (ESP™) combines:
* Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES): gentle electrical stimulation through electrodes placed on the neck to activate swallowing muscles.
* Swallowing exercises: the patient actively performs specific, effortful swallowing exercises during the stimulation.
* Postural support: a device helps position the head and neck appropriately during treatment.
The goal is to improve the strength, coordination, and timing of the muscles involved in swallowing and help improve airway protection. It is FDA-cleared for treatment of dysphagia.
Our speech-language pathologist has been trained/certified in this protocol. A typical treatment session is about 30 minutes.
