Road Trip Adventure!
Our J.D. Rabun Lyons Club members recently hit the road for an exciting educational adventure to the Laurens County Library to experience Jason Clark: Snakes Alive!
During this interactive program, our youth had the opportunity to learn about different snake species, their habitats, behaviors, and the important role they play in our ecosystem. Through hands-on learning and up-close encounters, members explored the fascinating world of reptiles while overcoming fears, asking questions, and discovering new facts about wildlife.

πŸ₯žπŸ“ Healthy Habits = Healthier, Happier Youth! 🍌🫐

Today, our members prepared their own healthy breakfast featuring whole wheat waffles topped with fresh strawberries, bananas, and blackberries. BOOST Healthy Habits program focused on learning about the food groups and the importance of creating balanced meals. Through hands-on learning, our youth discovered how nutritious foods help fuel their bodies, minds, and overall well-being.
By combining nutrition education with fun cooking experiences, our youth are learning that healthy choices can be both delicious and exciting. We're proud to help build lifelong healthy habits that support stronger, healthier, and happier futures!

After enjoying an engaging story time at the library and meeting a special service dog in training, our Club members headed to the park to burn off some extra energy! From listening and learning to running, laughing, and playing with friends, it was a wonderful day filled with fun, friendship, and adventure. We love providing opportunities for our youth to explore their community, stay active, and create lasting memories together. πŸ’™

Summer Brain Gain: A Sense of Belonging Through the Five Senses
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Character Development, and Sense of Belonging
Activity Description
Club members participated in a library visit where they enjoyed story time and interacted with a service dog in training. Through listening to stories, observing the dog's behavior, and safely engaging with the animal, youth explored how the five senses help us connect with others and develop a sense of belonging within our community.
Learning Objective
Youth identified how their senses help them build relationships, show empathy, and create welcoming environments where everyone feels valued and included.

When the heat rises, we dive into fun!
As the temperatures continue to rise, there’s no better way to beat the heat than with a day at the pool!
Today, our Club members took a trip to the Vidalia Aquatic Center for a much-needed cool-down and a day filled with fun in the sun. From splashing in the water to enjoying time with friends, our youth had an amazing opportunity to relax, recharge, and make summer memories.
We are especially grateful to the staff at the Aquatic Center for their patience, kindness, and commitment to keeping our children safe. Not only did they provide a fun experience, but they also took time to share important water safety tips and reminders with our youth. Vidalia Recreation Department

The last two days have been absolutely amazing as our Club members have had the opportunity to get outside the building, explore, learn, and enjoy some fun in the sun!
On Wednesday, we traveled to Southeastern Technical College to attend the exciting Wild Wonders Animal Show, presented by the Dr. Mark and Tonya Spivey Public Library. The show was both educational and entertaining, giving our children a chance to see a variety of animals up close and personal while learning interesting facts about wildlife and conservation.
