Dear VVGMC Members,

Amid the latest information coming out regarding the COVID-19 virus, the club will be closed until further notice. When all the government officials, to which we are subject, allow nonessential services to resume regular business hours, we will let you know.

I know everyone is anxious to go back to their normal activities at some point and we will.

In the meantime this is all very fluid and changes at a moments notice. So hang in there, stay safe, watch reliable media sources and if you have any questions about what's next, give me a call, send me a text or an email and I will respond.

Miss you all,

Dwayna

Here we go Rockhounds- the planning process for the Mojave Trails National Monument (MTNM) is about to being.

All the collecting areas within the Cady Mountains, most of the Lavic collecting areas and all the spots along the 66 are now within the MTNM. If Rockhounds have any chance at all of being able to continue to collect in the newly proclaimed Mojave Trails National Monument (MTNM), we are going to have to PARTICIPATE IN THE MANAGEMENT PLAN PROCESS. The Management Plan for this Monument will be done under a new Planning Process called Planning 2.0. As part of that process, the BLM is hosting "Envisioning Sessions". This is your chance to let them know Rockhounds envision being able to continue collecting rocks as we have done for over 70 years on the lands now within the monument; that we envision the roads we use to get to our known collecting areas to remain open in the Travel Management Plan; that we envision a net zero loss of trails to access the collecting areas we use, so we always have a way to access our collecting areas; that we envision staging areas for club outings and anything else that would enhance your recreational experience in the MTNM.
Participating is not hard or complicated. Just show up and speak up. This is a scoping session and it would be great if Recreational Rockhounding was at the top of the list of the input they receive.
