Proud to Help Put Rotary on Parade!

The Rotary Club of Victorville is proud to be a $500 Ambassador Club Sponsor of the Rotary Rose Parade Float!

After hearing from Past District Governor Raghada Khoury this week about everything that goes into bringing the Rotary float to life, we’re even more excited to play a small part in helping Rotary share its message with millions of people around the world.

The Rose Parade Float is funded through the support of Rotary Clubs, Districts, sponsors and individual Rotarians, and represents thousands of volunteer hours each year.

We’re proud to have the Rotary Club of Victorville banner among the Ambassador Clubs supporting this incredible worldwide showcase of Rotary and Service Above Self.

Look for Rotary in the Rose Parade this New Year’s Day!

This week, Rotary Club of Victorville members took our meeting on the road for a firsthand look at the work being done to address homelessness in our community.

Led by City of Victorville Homelessness Solutions Manager William Lamas, Rotarians traveled aboard a VVTA Direct Access bus to meet the Homeless Engagement Team, a first look tour the new FAM Spot and Tiny Homes for young adults with Family Assistance Program Director Darrel Evey, and visit the Victorville Wellness Center.

It was an eye-opening look at the many people and organizations working together, from street outreach and youth services to medical care, temporary shelter and ultimately permanent housing.

A great opportunity to get outside our regular meeting and see community service in action right here in Victorville.

Great thanks to Mark Mariscal from the Altadena Rotary Club, who stopped by this week to share not only how the Rotary Foundation works, but how it helped Club members and the community, as a result of the Eaton Fire.

The Rotary Club of Victorville enjoyed another fantastic Second Tuesday gathering, this time hosted by President Brad Letner and his wife Teresa at the Letner Lakeside Lounge!

The evening’s theme was “Pick Your Pleasure,” and there was definitely something for everyone, wheated bourbon and Johnnie Walker Scotch flights, ci**rs, an incredible six-course w**e and food pairing, plus a charcuterie board loaded with cheeses and plenty of desserts! The w**e experience included everything from Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc to Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, each paired with its own specially prepared dish.

Second Tuesday is all about getting away from the regular meeting format and enjoying some good old-fashioned Rotary fellowship with members, spouses and friends.

A HUGE thank you to Brad & Teresa for opening their beautiful home and putting together such a fun evening!

Apparently, the only problem with “Pick Your Pleasure” was deciding which pleasure to pick! 😄🥃🍷

A packed house today at the Rotary Club of Victorville!

We were honored to welcome U.S. Congressman Jay Obernolte as our guest speaker, with a room filled with business owners, community leaders, nonprofit representatives and elected officials from throughout the High Desert.

Congressman Obernolte gave us an update from Washington, discussing H.R. 1 and its impact on taxes and the economy, before turning to a subject especially close to his expertise, Artificial Intelligence. He shared insight into the Great American AI Act and the ongoing work to develop responsible regulations for the rapidly expanding use of AI across different technologies, while still allowing innovation to thrive.

And the timing of his visit couldn't have been better; today was Congressman Obernolte’s birthday! We couldn't let the occasion pass without surprising him with a birthday cake and giving the entire room an opportunity to wish him a very Happy Birthday!

Thank you, Congressman Obernolte, for spending part of your birthday with the Rotary Club of Victorville and for an informative and engaging conversation with our members and guests.

It was a great day of fellowship, community connections and learning more about the issues shaping our region and our country.
