SPRING VALLEY LAKE LIONS CLUB CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PROJECT
Saturday, December 20, 2025, 144 children from throughout the High Desert were given a special Christmas.
Each child and their family were identified by school district counselors and administrators confirming their need.
Each family was contacted by our Spring Valley Lake Lions Club Project Coordinator to determine each child’s “needs and wants.”
Then we went shopping for each child and wrapped every gift with the child’s name.
Each family had a scheduled time to come and meet with Santa to receive their gifts in a quiet living room setting. It was not a mass giveaway. The child’s needs and wants were addressed.
It took a lot of SVL Lions Club members and community volunteers to put this together. Each family was greeted upon their arrival and Elves ensured the gifts were ready for them when they met with Santa.
The joy was contagious when a young child ran towards Santa with a squeal of glee.

Our club level Student Speaker Contest was very successful. Five contestants spoke on the subject, Artificial Intelligence Friend or Foe?” All speakers had very insightful commentary on the subject. Each speaker had no less than five minutes and no more than 10 minutes to speak on the subject.

Hundreds of students are competing throughout California in the California Lions Multiple District Four Student Speaker Contest Program.

The next step is the Zone contest, followed by a Region contest, then a District level followed by an Area level and then the Final contest. The winner of the final contest will have won over $10,000 in scholarships.

My Spring Valley Lake Lions Club helped the High Desert Second Chance Fall Festival with their “Trunk or Treat”. We set up a booth to hand out candy and to answer questions about our club. This was on 26th of October, 2024. Lots of candy was passed out and a few questions answered. Well over 1,000 children came by and some wore really cute and creative costumes.
