Knox County Chapter of Pheasants Forever

Knox County Chapter of Pheasants Forever A chapter of the leading upland wildlife habitat conservation group, Pheasants Forever, " The Habitat Organization" - www.pheasantsforever.org

The Knox County Chapter of Pheasants Forever works primarily in Knox County, IL to support the establishment and conservation of upland habitat for wildlife. We also work to introduce new people to the great outdoors through education, activities, and special events. Our flagship work is Forever Fields Upland Habitat Management Area, just East of Victoria, IL in Knox County. This 507-acre piece of

reclaimed strip mine was purchased by Pheasants Forever in 2011 and placed in the Forever Land Trust. Since then, Chapter members and other volunteers, along with the great Illinois Pheasants and Quail Forever Staff, have been working to develop the land into a highly desirable habitat for pheasants, quail, and other upland wildlife, as well as waterfowl. We also work with local landowners to implement effective upland habitat areas and management practices to support wildlife in their local area.

đŸŒ±BIG NEWS FROM KNOX COUNTY PHEASANTS FOREVER CHAPTER 430! đŸŒ±

We are excited to introduce our newest addition to our chapter equipment lineup — a Great Plains 606NT drill!

This drill will soon be available for rent through our chapter in Knox County, IL, giving local landowners another great tool to help with habitat projects and conservation efforts.

This purchase was made possible thanks to the incredible support of our members, partners, and conservation community. Half of the funding came through an Illinois DNR Pheasant Fund grant — a program funded by the habitat stamp that hunters purchase each year. Every hunter who buys that stamp is helping put conservation dollars back into the ground. đŸŒ±

The other half was made possible through the generosity of two anonymous $5,000 donations that were specifically given toward purchasing a new drill. We cannot thank those donors enough for helping make this possible.

While the new Great Plains 606NT gets ready for service, our two trusty Tye drills and 3 point seed spreader are still available for those needing to get seed in the ground.

We are extremely grateful for the support our chapter receives and excited to continue expanding the conservation opportunities we can offer our area.

Not in our area? No problem! Check out this cool padlet of all the PF/QF chapters and the equipment they own! https://www.ihuntil.com/habitat/?fbclid=IwZnRzaASVZBJleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEewUY6_vPc1IgbPTr6YLhqnkS_-IJsIV9mrl-_tVH4Q-KIw-0UrKbPqkN9xjQ_aem_zWceF2wVJNx_HyJwaYCyWg

Thank you to everyone who supports habitat, wildlife, and the future of pheasants in Illinois! đŸŠđŸŒŸ

Please consider joining Knox County Chapter and Rock Island & Henry County Pheasants Forever for a Hands On Habitat Work Day this coming Saturday, May 23, at Forever Fields!

The plan is to begin work at 8:00 a.m. and work for about 3 hours doing invasive brush removal.

*Bring gloves, eye protection, and if you have them: chainsaws, loppers, pole saws, reciprocating saws with aggressive brush or demolition blades, etc.
*There will be a cooler with water available, but bring your own drinks if desired.
*We will be focusing on the unit directly west of the South Parking lot (41.02577, -90.03353)
*Don't feel like you have to stay for the whole time, even an hour of help would be awesome!

Yesterday we had the opportunity to attend a practice for the ROWVA Williamsfield Clay Target Team.

This team stepped up in a big way at our recent banquet—helping run games and raffles throughout the night. Their help made a huge difference, and we truly appreciate their support and the flexibility it gave us through the night.

Because of efforts like theirs (and yours), we were proud to give back. Proceeds from our Live Auction Bump Up raffle along with the “Buy a Round” donations collected at the door went directly to their team. We were honored to present them with a check for $805 from this year’s banquet.

Thank you again to the ROWVA Williamsfield Clay Target Team for your support and partnership!

This is just one more example of how Pheasants Forever’s local chapter model works—keeping our dollars right here in our community and making a direct impact where it matters most.
