Horses Helping People Help Themselves

The rhythmical, three dimensional movement of the horse at a walk stimulates movement to the rider that is similar to human walking. The total development of the rider, including their social, emotional, cognitive and motor skills, are enhanced through interactions with the horses, the volunteers and the outdoors.

For many riders at Crossroads Therapeutic Equestrian Center (CTEC), connecting with people can sometimes feel overwhelming or difficult. But the moment they step up to one of our horses, all of that pressure melts away.

Our horses don't judge, rush, or expect anything other than genuine partnership. They listen with their ears, respond to gentle touches, and offer a steady, reassuring heartbeat to riders navigating anxiety, physical challenges, or developmental delays. They are confidants, healers, and unwavering friends.

Because our horses give so much unconditional love in the arena, we are dedicated to giving them the highest quality of life outside of it. Through our Horse Heroes Program, you can sponsor one of these gentle giants—covering their vital monthly feed, farrier care, and health supplements with sponsorship options from $50 up to $250.

In just one week, we are hosting our second-to-last Volunteer Training and Orientation of the year. Join us next Wednesday, October 21st at Crossroads Therapeutic Equestrian Center!

Our Hooves & Harvest Showcase is next week on Saturday, October 17th, and we are gearing up for an incredible morning celebrating our riders' hard work!

As we prepare for the big day, we have three wonderful ways you can get involved and support both Crossroads Therapeutic Equestrian Center and our community:

🐎 1. Support a Rider’s Pledge Goal
Our riders are actively collecting pledges between now and showcase day! Every dollar raised goes directly toward the daily feed, farrier, and medical care costs for our hardworking therapy herd.

🎟️ 2. Donate a Bucket Raffle Item
All proceeds from our showcase Bucket Raffle also support our therapy herd's care! We are seeking donated items, gift cards, or themed baskets from local businesses, families, and supporters.

🥫 3. Bring Non-Perishable Food Donations for VCAM
Admission to the showcase is FREE, but we are asking our community to bring non-perishable food items to the gate! All food collected will be donated directly to Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry (VCAM) to support local families in need.
