The Victoria Soil and Water Conservation District #346 is seeking a dependable, organized, and self-motivated Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of the District. This is a part-time position with a flexible work schedule offering an opportunity to serve the agricultural community and promote conservation throughout Victoria County.

Position Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative, financial, and organizational support to the District Board of Directors by:

* Maintaining District bookkeeping and financial records.
* Preparing meeting agendas, financial reports, and recording Board meeting minutes.
* Managing District correspondence, reports, and official records.
* Processing deposits, paying invoices, and maintaining accounting records.
* Preparing required reports for state and federal agencies.
* Assisting with annual budgeting and financial documentation.
* Coordinating District workshops, educational programs, outreach events, and conservation contests.
* Managing office communications, greeting visitors, and answering telephone inquiries.
* Assisting with social media updates and basic website maintenance (training provided).
* Ordering office supplies and maintaining an organized office environment.
* Performing other administrative duties as assigned by the District Board.

Minimum Qualifications

* High School Diploma or GED required.
* Associate degree or equivalent administrative experience preferred.
* Strong computer, organizational, and communication skills.
* Bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred.
* Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
* Must successfully complete a background check and fingerprinting requirements for access to a federal office.

Two larvae, one big difference.

New World screwworm larvae can look almost identical to other fly larvae found in animal wounds. That’s why a quick glance isn’t enough to tell them apart – and why confirming the species is absolutely critical.
Our experts at the National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) examine the suspect larvae closely to confirm NWS. Their confirmation guides the response effort, helping us act fast to protect livestock, wildlife, and U.S. agriculture.

If you spot maggots in a wound, don’t try to identify them yourself – report it right away so NVSL can do what they do best.

On Monday, representatives from the Victoria Soil and Water Conservation District met with Judge Zeller to discuss and hear a proclamation recognizing Soil and Water Stewardship Week in Victoria County.

They shared information highlighting the vital role that healthy soil and clean water play in sustaining our community.

This week and every week, we call upon the citizens of Victoria County to do their part in promoting healthy, fertile soil and clean water, and to do their part in implementing effective conservation practices to protect our precious natural resources and ensure their prosperity for generations to come. 🌱💧
