Our Victor Central Schools Educational Foundation is excited to release episode 6 of our VCS alumni podcast series hosted by Bob Dreste (VCS '80) and Dan Biviano (VCS '97). Today’s fantastic guest is Bob Potter, a 1976 Victor Central graduate and long-time studio manager, technical specialist, and instructor at Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) in Canandaigua, New York.

This episode highlights Potter's childhood memories growing up in Victor, NY, his contributions to the college and the recording industry, his ownership of a recording studio in Naples, NY, and his involvement in local live music venues in Rochester, Ithaca, and Northampton, MA. He also shares stories from his highly sought-after role at renowned band tours and music festivals such as Newport Folk Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, and MerleFest. Bob has worked with several hundred national artists and bands (https://www.cabinfeverrecording.com/Clients.html), providing audio engineering, audio production, and/or recording services for the past 45 years. Joining host Bob Dreste are Jenner Davis, a VCS Educational Foundation board member, and co-host Dan Biviano, a Victor and FLCC alum who studied audio engineering under Potter.
This episode of the Victor Alumni Podcast was recorded at one of the five state-of-the-art recording studios at Finger Lakes Community College, used for the Associate of Science, Music Recording Technology program, where Potter has dedicated over 23 years as a studio manager and technical specialist. He also teaches live sound to audio and recording students. His efforts have helped position FLCC as a leader in recording industry education, launching many careers and providing students with valuable hands-on experience and motivating stories from his remarkable career.
