I have a great idea…
The Federal Highway Department funds wildlife safety corridors on all highways surrounding Yellowstone National Park.
There is over $7 billion annually in federal aid programs.
It can start small with flashing wildlife crossing signs and eventually wildlife crossings. There is such a need in the Yellowstone ecosystem.
Over 3 million people visit Yellowstone annually and travel these roads. These same roads are ancient migration routes for Yellowstone's abundant and diverse wildlife. There are nearly 300 species of birds, 16 species of fish, five species of amphibians, six species of reptiles, and 67 species of mammals—including seven native ungulate species and two bear species.
The National Mammal is a Bison.
So many lives can be saved by implementing
a Greater Yellowstone Highway wildlife safety corridor.
