ICD Highlights Weekly Recap - This week we are thrilled to offer a photo recap that really represents all we do at ICD. Check out the photos to see students learning about ways to communicate emotions, asking for things they want or need, moving and grooving with gross motor and fine motor activities, building pre-academic and academic skills, and building friendships and classroom relationships.

Even though the week ended with a little bit of a raincloud overlay, that doesn't mean the sunny smiles at ICD weren't shining away as they always do. One of the coolest things about our students and staff is how much they prioritize their relationships as the starting point for the work to be done. This sets everyone up for greater success and openness to learning and builds great skills for what we all need to do as we get older - combine our unique abilities and achieve great things as a team!

We wish everyone a happy and healthy weekend ahead -get cozy and fall fun ready! Also, don't forget to mark your calendar for the last SLC Saturday coming up next week - stay tuned!

ICD Page Followers - The NYS Office for New Americans provides free assistance to all immigrants in New York State through a statewide network of community-based providers. ONA's programs include legals services, English Language Learning, citizenship assistance, workforce development, developmental disabilities services, and mental health support. Call the New Americans Hotline at 1-800-566-7636 for anonymous and multi-lingual referrals to ONA's programming.

Please check out an important resource from the New York State Office for New Americans (ONA), the Know Your Rights Toolkit, which provides clear, practical guidance for immigrant families seeking services and support in our communities. The toolkit, which can be found here (https://dos.ny.gov/know-your-rights), includes information on health care, legal assistance, language access, and emergency preparedness.

ICD Highlights Weekly Recap - It takes a lot of bravery to try new things, and this week was filled with opportunities to stretch ourselves a bit. Many of the photos in this recap are from our Tasty Tuesday event. Students were offered a very vegetable moment, and as you can see from the photos we had mixed reviews. The best part is that everyone tried something new at the level that felt comfortable and accessible for them. While a select few students chomped happily on cucumbers, others explored by touch or hesitant bites/sniffs and some students remained skeptically tolerant but permitted the cucumber to hang out nearby. The goal of this event wasn't to convince anyone of anything, just to try something new and see what the experience teaches us about our likes and potential opportunities.

Next week we will be rolling in Color Wheel Wednesday - everyone should wear red that day. ICD Parents, if you're wondering where to find information about school themes and activities to prepare in advance, go to our ICD Parent Portal and use the login information sent to you in your Welcome Packet to look up the ICD Happenings Calendar!

That's all for now! Have a great weekend and enjoy the fall weather!

ICD Highlights Weekly Recap - Fall is here, and we are moving along in our learning. The weather is up and down, but we are ready, steady, go! We had a lot of great moments this week as we worked on new skills and connecting with one another. All in all, a great week!

In January 2026, we were thrilled to launch family consultation services through our Child & Adolescent Diagnostic and Consultation Clinic (ICD-CADCC). Our Consultation for Health & Eating Wellness (CHEW) service has already served a number of children with feeding/eating needs and their families who would otherwise not have access to our phenomenal staff. Even more importantly, those families have made some real gains using this time-limited family consultation support model!

If you or anyone you know is looking for expert guidance to support children with picky eating from 12 months up through 12 years old, check out the information below and reach out if interested!

Our "Request for Services" form can be found here:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeg5nStL1HO2me6nPs8BOYbguyPbctRTyROc5aOrdvHzMKG8A/viewform?pli=1

*Services are available to any child with a feeding/eating need, no specific diagnosis required
*Families of children currently enrolled in our CUTE special education programs are not eligible for CHEW because feeding/eating services are provided in school at CUTE already. Want more in-depth training from our team? Reach out to your child's speech-language pathologist or classroom teacher to get connected!

ICD Highlights Weekly Recap - Check out our students on our second week featuring sunshine, smiles, slides, and some stop, drop, and roll! This week captures both our daily student activities and our first family service event of the school year focusing on Fire Safety! To integrate motor activities into our theme, students pretended that bean bags were water to "put the fire out" on towering cups and cans marked with flames. This was a great week of learning - we were so grateful to welcome so many family members of our students in to share a moment and build a memory. Thank you for a great start to our parent-school connectedness!

Also - get ready for our next SLC Saturday tomorrow 9/26/26 from 12-2 PM. We hope to see you there, but if you can't make it we have one more planned in October you might still be able to catch before our outdoor season wraps up. Keep your fingers crossed that the rain really holds off until Sunday so we can have our first fall SLC happen without a hitch.

Wishing a happy weekend ahead to all! See you soon!
