The uniform may come off, but the need for connection doesn't end.

For many veterans, military service creates a strong sense of camaraderie, belonging, and shared purpose. Transitioning out of the military can mean leaving behind the daily connections and support systems that were once such a big part of life.

But connection doesn't have to end when service does. It may just look a little different.

Connection can be found in many ways:

Family & Friends — Spending time with those who care about you.

Fellow Veterans — Connecting with people who understand shared experiences.

Community Organizations — Finding support, resources, and opportunities to belong.

Hobbies & Activities — Discovering interests that bring joy and purpose.

Volunteering — Giving back and making a difference in someone else's life.

Counseling & Peer Support — Having someone to talk to when life gets difficult.

There's no single right way to stay connected. What matters is finding the people, places, and activities that help you feel supported and understood.

At Southern Tier Veterans Support Group (STVSG), we believe no veteran should have to navigate life's challenges alone. We're here to help veterans and their families connect with the resources, organizations, and support they need.

Every veteran has a story. But those stories aren't just for other veterans to hear.

They're for all of us.

Our Stories of Service Veterans Town Hall is an opportunity to bring veterans, families, friends, and community members together—not just to share experiences, but to build understanding.

Military service is more than what we see in movies, read in history books, or hear in the news. Behind every uniform is a person with unique experiences, challenges, friendships, sacrifices, and memories.

When veterans share their stories, our community has an opportunity to learn. When we take the time to listen, we build understanding, strengthen connections, and help bridge the gap between those who served and those who haven't.

You don't have to be a veteran to attend. You don't have to know what to say. And you certainly don't have to speak.

Sometimes the most meaningful way to show support is simply to show up and listen.

We invite our entire community to join us for Stories of Service. Because honoring our veterans isn't just about thanking them for their service—it's also about taking the time to understand their experiences.

Come to listen. Come to learn. Come together.
