This Pride Month, we celebrate the diversity that strengthens our community and reaffirm our commitment to creating a place where everyone belongs.

For nearly 100 years, the JCC of Binghamton has been proud to serve our community by opening our doors to all and fostering connections that bring people together.

At the JCC of Binghamton, we believe fully in the notion of including EVERYBODY—regardless of age, race, religion, gender identity, socio-economic background, sexual orientation, family structure, or ethnicity. We are committed to work to eliminate bigotry and discrimination wherever it exists by embracing our differences and inviting everyone into the welcoming tent that is the JCC.

As Pride Month continues, we encourage everyone to take part in and support the many local events happening throughout our community. Together, we can continue building a community where every person feels welcomed, respected, and valued.

A huge THANK YOU to the Binghamton Move Out Project for their incredible partnership with local nonprofits and their commitment to keeping usable items out of the landfill. Because of this AMAZING idea, many of these donated items have found a second life at the JCC:

💙Mirrors will be hung horizontally in our infant classrooms so babies can engage with their reflections, and in our older classrooms as part of dress-up stations.

💙Halloween costumes and clothing will be transformed into costumes for our theater program and Camp JCC productions.

💙Brita water filters will be used in our infant rooms to prepare bottles of formula.

💙Drawer organizers and storage bins will help our classrooms stay organized for both children and staff.

💙Carpets will create cozy corners and reading nooks where children can relax, explore books, and build a love of learning.

Partnerships like this save our center THOUSANDS of dollars each year—resources that can be reinvested directly back into our programs, facilities, and the families we serve. As we look ahead to celebrating 100 years of community impact, support like this helps ensure we can continue serving our community for another 100 years.

The countdown to summer has begun! As kids are counting down the day until school ends, don't be STUCK this summer without plans to keep them busy!

Camp JCC is open to children entering Kindergarten through 10th Grade and offers a safe, engaging, and fun-filled summer experience led by our incredible staff.

This summer, Camp JCC is excited to welcome Avi, our Shaliach (Israeli emissary), and we are looking for host families to open their homes for one week (or more)!

Hosting is a wonderful opportunity to share American culture while learning firsthand about life in Israel. No special accommodations are needed—just a private room, meals, and a willingness to help Avi experience all that Broome County and the surrounding areas have to offer.

A huge THANK YOU to our friends at Levene Gouldin & Thompson, LLP for spending time with our Early Childhood Center students during Literacy Day last week!

Their team helped bring stories to life by reading with our children and sharing the joy of literacy, imagination, and learning.
[And maybe spark an interest to the future generation of lawyers, paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative staff?!]

The Jewish Community Center of Binghamton will be closed on Monday, May 25, as we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

We wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend as we reflect with gratitude on those who gave so much for our freedom.

We look forward to welcoming you back during regular hours on Tuesday!

Yesterday we celebrated the joy of reading, imagination, and community at our 15th Annual Literacy Day at the J — and our hearts are FULL!

THANK YOU to the incredible JCC staff, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and families who helped make today such a special event. From books and activities to dancing, trucks, and smiles, every moment was made possible because of this community.
