Focus, speed, balance, technique, power, and self control were all on display at our last meeting. We had the privilege of having Grand Master Taylor from Taylor's Tae Kwon Do Academy show us some demonstrations and teach us a thing or two. Along with him was one of our troop members and his father. We also had a devotion that tied this into fighting sin and smashing idols in our lives. It is a lifelong battle and believers must stay focused on Jesus.

This Thursday, 6:30pm at the Tyson Activity Center we will have a Taekwondo demonstration by Grand Master Jerry Taylor from Taylors Tae Kwon Do Academy. The demonstration will include board breaking, bricks, some forms and fighting techniques. All are welcome to come even if you're not a troop member.

At our meeting last week the boys enjoyed being free to unleash their energy by using a drill and hammers. They looked at real blueprints, read a tape measure, saw how to measure and mark for building a wall, operated a drill and hammered nails, and learned about a strong foundation. No matter how well a building is built, it cannot stand very long on a weak foundation.
“Now why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and does them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the river burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who heard and did not do , is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the river burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.” Luke 6:46-49
Obey what the Lord has said and you will have a rock solid foundation that withstands trials, suffering, pain, persecution, and temptations.

How many times does a formula one racecar crankshaft rotate per second at 20,000 rpms? 333 times! That's just one of many things the boys learned last Thursday at our first official meeting as a troop. Our demonstration for the night was learning about how a 4-cycle internal combustion engine operates. We tied that into a devotion based on two things. 1. What you take in determines what you put out. 2. How the different parts work together to make a whole engine much like the Church, the body of Christ, is made up of many individual members who have different functions. Without an air filter or wrong/old fuel an engine will suck in dirt which can damage internal components, run less efficiently, and produce less power. This is much like how we operate. If we take in the dirt of the world we will not produce good fruit, but rotten fruit. We must filter everything through God's Word. Be mindful of what you're watching, listening to, reading, who you're surrounding yourself with, etc. Ask yourself if it is going to contribute to your sanctification and produce good works.

We had a great time at the Versailles Pumpkin Parade today! This was our first event as a troop, and it couldn't have gone better except that we ran out of gift bags (500+) halfway through. The Gospel went out into many homes. Praise the Lord!
We also took first place in our category for our float. We're looking forward to the adventures ahead. Soli Deo Gloria!
