Versailles FFA Participates in District 5 FFA Job Interview Contest

On Friday, October 2nd four Versailles FFA members participated in the District 5 FFA Job Interview Competition at St. Henry High School. The contest is designed to assist FFA members in the development of oral skills with the job application and interview process. Students had to create a resume and cover letter, fill out a job application pertaining to a specific agricultural job, complete an interview and write a follow up thank you letter and address an envelope in a timed session. The members who competed in this contest included: Senior Division Cale DeMange, Junior Division Monica Evers, Sophomore Division Colby Peters, and Freshmen Division Julia Evers. Cale placed 17th, Monica placed 3rd, Colby placed 6th, and Julia placed 5th! Congratulations to all! A special thank you to Amy Hoying, Beth Simons, Dena Wuebker, and Dave Harmon for helping work with these FFA members in preparation for the District 5 Job Interview Contest.

Livingston and Billenstein Named FFA Members of the Month

Versailles FFA congratulates Brooklyn Livingston as one of September's FFA Members of the Month. Brooklyn has been involved in monthly meetings, Igniting Awareness, Senior Citizen Birthday Parties, Fruit Sales, Veterans Day, Feed the Farmers, and the Beef and Pork Tent. This year at the fair, she was crowned Poultry Queen! Brooklyn is the daughter of Brad and Chrissy Strausbaugh of Versailles. Brooklyn Livingston received a t-shirt and certificate for being named FFA member of the month.

The second FFA member of the month was Cody Billenstein. Cody has been involved in Monthly Meetings, Shop and Crop, State Convention, Fruit Sales, and Toy Drive. Cody was also selected as a top-4 National Proficiency Finalist in the area of Swine Production Placement, with final placings announced at National FFA Convention this October! Cody is the son of Jason and Kelly Billenstein of North Star. Cody Billenstein received a t-shirt and certificate for being named FFA member of the month.

Versailles FFA Conducts Annual Pollinator PALS Program

On Tuesday, September 15th, the Versailles FFA hosted an activity entitled Pollinator Pals. This activity consisted of kids from kindergarten through 3rd grade who were able to stay after school to educate themselves about pollinators and the environment. 120 elementary students attended this event, where they were given snacks and the opportunity to bring home seeds for plants that pollinators love and that can be used for fall gardening.

During this activity, the elementary students traveled to four different stations. The first station consisted of members Colby Peters and Britton Broerman teaching the kids about bees and how they are pollinators and their importance in food production. A special thank you to Hank Smith for providing the supplies for the honey station. The second station consisted of the students collecting flowers to put into a cardboard butterfly cutout. A special thank you to Versailles FFA member Gracie Henry for leading this station. The third station consisted of Alex Kaiser, the owner of The Conservationist LLC speaking to the students of native plants and the importance of caring for native plants and their role as pollinators. Finally, the fourth station consisted of students learning about fall gardening by OSU Extension Agent Caden Buschur. A special thanks to Caden Buschur and Alex Kaiser for helping out with this event to teach the kids about native plants and fall gardening.

FFA members who attended and helped out with this event included Allison Mertz, Margaret Schmitmeyer, Monica Evers, Abby Henry, Gracie Henry, Paisley Bergman, Jaycee Chavez, Aleara Bradley, Grady Dirksen, Brooklyn Livingston, Vera Pearson, Lorraine Dirksen, Alayna Dirksen, Adam Rauh, Rhylan Broerman, Britton Broerman, Greta Broering, and Colby Peters.

The Versailles FFA will host "Seeds of Strength," a community-wide mental health prevention and awareness event, on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2026, in the Versailles High School cafeteria. Doors will open at 6:00pm with the program starting at 6:30pm. Created in response to recent local losses, the initiative aims to break the stigma surrounding mental health and promote well-being. The evening will feature a complimentary dinner catered by Mary Bergman alongside presentations from featured speakers including Nicole Noble and FFA President Rhylan Broerman along with many other helpful mental health professionals. On-site support resources, including local guidance counselors, therapists, and representatives from the "You Matter" initiative, will also be available to assist attendees. There will also be a kids program that is run and designed but the Versailles Hope Squad.

Every participant will receive a custom gift bag containing a mental health resource journal, mood tracker, essential oils, a stress ball, a T-shirt, and a planting kit complete with seeds, soil, and information on the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Versailles FFA Hosting Veterans, Spouses of Deceased Veterans, Active Duty Military, Parents and Family Hosting Program and Free Meal on Nov 5th, Please RSVP by Friday, Oct 30th.

The Versailles FFA would like to invite all veterans along with their spouses, spouses of deceased veterans, and active duty military members and their parents to a free dinner on November 5th to recognize you and your service to our country. This event includes a free dinner, performances from Versailles schools musical department and presentation of gifts made by Versailles FFA members. The free dinner will be served at 6:30pm in the Versailles Cafetorium followed by the guest speakers and presentation of special gifts. The cafeteria can be accessed from door 19 in the bus parking lot. This lot can be accessed by the drive directly across from Elmwood Drive. The event is completely free for all in attendance. Ohio FFA State Vice President Paige Gehret Visits Versailles FFA

On Thursday September 10th, Ohio FFA State Vice President Paige Gehret came to conduct a chapter workshop with the Versailles FFA. Paige Gehret, Versailles FFA member and 2026 Versailles Highschool graduate, kicked off the beginning of her chapter visits by first visiting her home chapter. During this visit each class participated in workshops tailored to fit that particular group. One workshop designed specifically for underclassmen members emphasized the power we have in accomplishing challenging tasks. After writing a goal or task students learned how to break the task down into achievable parts through hands-on games. For upperclassmen there was a particular emphasis on how to become a better leader in your chapter and within your personal life. For eighth grade members the workshop broke down facing fears and provided confidence in their ability to make an impact. Thank you to Paige Gehret for visiting and passing your knowledge and encouragement onto the Versailles FFA chapter. We wish her the best of luck for the rest of her year of service to Ohio FFA!
