Tickets are running out for one of the best events in Woodford County! Don't miss your chance to join us for a great cause, great local food farm the farm to the table prepared by one of the best chef's in the world, Ouita Michel!

It's all for a great cause! Kentucky Farm Bureau teams with the Chamber to host this annual event. KFB has chosen the Woodford County backpack program that sends kids home on weekends with a backpack of food who may otherwise not have access to nutritious - or any- food over the weekend or as readily available as most of us. How many kids are fed by the backpack program in WC alone? HUNDREDS. Who runs this program? Two local citizens out of the goodness of their hearts.

The other portion of funds raised will go toward paying off the outstanding school lunch bills in the Woodford County school system. The school doesn't deny anyone if they can't pay to eat, leaving a large deficit in funds.

So join us! It's more than a meal. It's more than a good time. It's about ag. It's about supporting local. And we'll have fun doing it together as a community!

The Woodford County Farm to Table Dinner is hosted by Kentucky Farm Bureau in support with the Chamber. KFB selects a non profit organization each year to give the proceeds to. There are two this year:

1. Woodford County Backpack program

2. Woodford County Public Schools Food program.

Agriculture is how we eat and it's important to their mission to ensure every kids in the county is fed and fed well. As they say, "kids can't learn if they are hungry". And our school system does a fabulous job of ensure, even if they can't pay, they don't turn kids away.

So what's the need really like in our county? Sometimes, people see our horse farms and castle and think we must not have any food insecurity. Here is a look by numbers below.

The Chamber recently hosted a roundtable in 3 part series on food insecurity was addressed. The need is real and numbers are staggering, and growing.
Our food pantry is having trouble keeping up with the increase. The backpack program is serving more and more each year. Our community dinners are increasing in need.
