Come and join us on Saturday, September 5th for the 'Prairie Dog' inaugural 5K & 10K Trail Run, the most recent addition to the Savanna Series Trail Runs. The course will take you through young and old oak savannas, old growth pines, wood chipped trails, prairies and tree lined routes.

Prairie Moraine Dog Park is planned to be 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗗 from 6 am - 5 pm on Wednesday, May 20. Staff will be preparing the dog park expansion area for opening. This work is weather dependent.

Hey… a little birdie told me that the ‘Pines’ expansion area is opening next Thursday, May 21st. Come join us on Saturday, May 23rd for our rescheduled park clean up day and then take a spin on the new trails.

The Prairie Moraine Dog Park is planned to be 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗗 all day on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Staff and volunteers will be removing brush piles, logs, and invasive trees and brush. Herbicide will be applied to stumps. The park will reopen on December 17. This work is weather dependent.

On Saturday, November 15th, the Prairie Moraine Friends Group hosted a Giving Tuesday event. For those folks who were out at the park we opened up the Pinery Expansion Area for a sneak preview. This area will add ~9+ acres to the park. It has a little under a half mile of crushed limestone trails that weave through the pines. The trails will eventually connect to the front gate area. We have been working on this project now going into our 5th year. This area will be open this coming Spring. It was a beauthiful day all the way around. Thank you to our Prairie Moraine Dog Park Communinty, Dane County Parks, Volunteers, Foundation for Dane County Parks, Resurrection Lutheran Church and our friends for your continued support. Thanks and Appreciation!!

We might be biased, but Prairie Moraine County Park has a few "remarkable" trees that should be added to this map!

The map's definition of a "remarkable" tree is subjective. Some are especially big or old. Other trees have knotted trunks or unusually shaped branches.
