Dr. Jeff Black has been a valued member of the MSPF Board of Directors for many years. A longtime friend of Fred Foy dating back to their days together at Furman University, Jeff has faithfully supported the mission and work of MSPF through both friendship and service.

As a medical doctor, Jeff brings a unique perspective to the board, helping guide conversations with wisdom, compassion, and a deep concern for the well-being of the communities we serve. His heart for people and commitment to Christ continue to strengthen MSPF’s work among the Maasai.

We are grateful for Jeff’s friendship, leadership, and faithful partnership in the ministry.

Meet the MSPF Board of Directors

Behind every ministry is a team of faithful people working to ensure that resources are used wisely, needs are being met, and the mission remains focused on sharing the love of Christ.

The MSPF Board of Directors serves in that role. Made up of individuals from diverse professional backgrounds and life experiences, the board provides oversight, accountability, encouragement, and prayerful guidance for the ministry’s work among the Maasai people.

From reviewing projects and financial stewardship to helping evaluate needs and opportunities, these men and women serve faithfully behind the scenes to help ensure that MSPF remains mission-focused, transparent, and effective in its work.

In the coming weeks, we’d like to introduce you to the individuals who help guide and support the ministry through their service on the MSPF Board of Directors.

We are grateful for their dedication, wisdom, and commitment to the work God has called MSPF to do.

Two photos. Thirty years apart. One faithful story.

The first photo was taken in 1982. A crowd gathers outside a church building that MSPF founder Fred Foy Strang helped establish alongside local Maasai believers. More than just a structure, it became a place for worship, discipleship, prayer, and community.

The second photo was taken in 2012. Standing in front of that same church are Fred Foy and his son, Jacob, three decades later.

We’ve been doing this for over 40 years.

These photos remind us that ministry is not measured in days or even years, but in generations. What began through faithful relationships in the early 1980s continued decades later through the people, churches, and communities that were impacted along the way.

At MSPF, our mission has always been about more than projects. It is about sharing the love of Christ, strengthening local churches, and walking alongside Maasai communities as they grow and thrive.

Thirty years passed between these photos. The building remained. The relationships remained. And by God’s grace, the work continues today.

For more than 40 years, MSPF has been walking alongside Maasai communities in Kenya and Tanzania.

What began as a calling to share the love of Christ has grown into decades of relationships, discipleship, and community partnership. Through changing seasons, our mission has remained the same: to go, teach, make disciples, and bear witness to God’s love through both word and action.

We’ve been doing this for over 40 years.

Not because the work is easy, but because relationships matter. Communities matter. The Gospel matters.

Thank you for helping us continue this journey through your prayers, encouragement, and support.

At the heart of MSPF is a simple mission: to fulfill the Great Commission by walking alongside the Maasai people of Kenya and Tanzania.

Since the 1980s, MSPF has partnered with Maasai communities to support Christian growth, church development, leadership training, education, and community-driven initiatives. What began through relationships formed decades ago continues today through local leaders, churches, and communities working toward a stronger future.

Our desire is not simply to provide resources, but to equip and encourage lasting growth that can impact generations.

Thank you for being part of this journey through your prayers, encouragement, and support. Together, we are investing in lives, communities, and communities transformed by the hope of Christ.

Sometimes a calling begins with something as simple as a map on a bedroom wall.

As a young boy, MSPF founder Fred Foy Strang would fall asleep looking at a wall-sized map of Africa. What began as fascination eventually became a lifelong calling to serve among the Maasai people of East Africa.

Over the years, Fred Foy, alongside Cecily and their sons, have built deep relationships within Maasai communities, learning from the people, sharing life together, and equipping local leaders through education, discipleship, and community development.

Since 1982, those relationships have grown into partnerships focused on education, healthcare, agriculture, leadership development, spiritual formation, and sustainable community growth. In 1990, Fred invited others to join that journey through the Maasai Special Projects Fund.

Today, that invitation remains the same.

Thank you to everyone who prays, gives, and serves alongside us. Together, we continue to walk with Maasai communities as they build a stronger future for generations to come.

As we begin June, we’ll be looking back at the story of MSPF and the many ways God has worked through relationships, faithfulness, and practical service over the years.

What started with a desire to walk alongside Maasai communities has grown into decades of partnership, friendship, and shared ministry. Through water projects, education, healthcare, outreach, and discipleship, we have seen God open doors that only He could open.

This month, we invite you to join us as we reflect on the people, moments, and milestones that have shaped MSPF’s journey. Thank you for being part of the story.

As we reflect on this past month, we are reminded again that water is life.

Throughout May, we shared about the many ways water impacts the communities MSPF serves across Kenya. From wells and cisterns to rain catchment systems, pipeline repairs, water purification training, and drought response efforts, each project represents both practical care and long term investment in community wellbeing.

We also shared some of the challenges that come with maintaining these systems, including drought, damaged infrastructure, and the ongoing need for repair and stewardship. Even so, we continue to see resilience, partnership, and hope within the communities we serve alongside.

Thank you for following these stories, praying with us, encouraging this work, and helping make these efforts possible. Every act of support helps communities gain greater access to safe and sustainable water sources.

We are grateful to continue walking alongside the Maasai communities God has connected us with and look forward to sharing more in the months ahead.

Water is more than a resource. It is connected to health, education, safety, food security, and opportunity.

In some areas where MSPF serves, families and livestock still rely on unsafe water sources shared with wildlife. In other places, older water systems have stopped functioning because of broken infrastructure or lack of access to repair materials.

One part of MSPF’s mission is walking alongside communities as they seek long-term, sustainable solutions. That includes helping repair existing systems, supporting local leadership, teaching sanitation practices, and equipping community members with practical skills to care for their own water infrastructure.

We are continually encouraged by the resilience, wisdom, and determination of the communities we serve alongside.
