The Learning Alliance

The Learning Alliance The Learning Alliance is a nonprofit dedicated to helping children read and succeed.

We work with schools, families, and the community to improve early literacy and achieve our Moonshot Goal: 90% of students reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade. The Learning Alliance, in cooperation with its community partners, is dedicated to delivering the latest advances in science-based education techniques to area teachers. Neuro-scientists are learning about the architecture of the

brain and how the brain learns to read, and we at The Learning Alliance have identified the teaching methods that best harness this new understanding. In our effort to radically improve our children’s literacy rates, we are all stakeholders. Partnerships between schools, civic youth organizations, non-profits, universities, philanthropists and parents are all critical to our success. The good news is that we all have every reason to believe that positive changes are not just possible, but that they are on the near horizon.

💛 Big learning starts with small moments.

The Learning Alliance’s The Basics Classes begin June 13, and we’re inviting parents, caregivers, and families with children ages 0–5 to join us for this free, powerful series designed to support early childhood development. 📚✨

Through five simple, research-based principles, families will learn how everyday interactions—like talking, singing, reading, counting, and playing—help build strong brains and bright futures.

☀️ Summer has officially begun.

As families settle into a new routine, we encourage everyone to make reading part of each day. Research shows that just 20 minutes of reading daily can help children maintain and strengthen the literacy skills they worked so hard to build during the school year.

Reading isn’t just about books; it’s about independence.

It’s being able to read a bus schedule, understand a medical label, fill out a form, or confidently participate in everyday decisions. It’s how we navigate the world around us.

When children build strong reading skills early, they gain more than knowledge; they gain confidence, independence, and a voice.

At The Learning Alliance, we’re working to ensure every child has that foundation, because literacy opens doors for a lifetime.

💛 It starts with simple moments: reading together, asking questions, and making stories part of everyday life.
