Faith, Hope, Love but the greatest of these is LOVE!
I’d like to take a few minutes to share with you my “Dream” or actually my “Vision” of what God is calling me to do right here in Vernonia, Oregon. I’m going to skip right to the plan but if you would like to hear the “whole story” of how God’s been preparing this plan just shoot me a message or email and I’ll gladly share it with you! God has laid it on my heart to use this land to start a Faith Based Equine Assisted Program (FBEAP) called ‘Living Hope Youth Ranch”. My goal for Living Hope is to be a place where” Hope grows and God’s Love flows”. My dream is to create a place where kids can find “True Hope” and “Real Healing” through Jesus Christ our Lord. Our mission is to encourage youth to overcome hurt and find True Hope and Real Healing through the Love of Jesus Christ, our Living Hope! How?? To capture the hearts of hurting children and their families by providing one-on-one sessions between the child, a bible believing leader and an extraordinary “equine counselor” (a horse), many of whom are rescued horses that have faced their own hurts, abuse and/or neglect themselves. All services will be FREE of charge.
What is Faith Based Equine Assisted PROGRAM (FBEAP)? FBEAP is based on the Bible and wild herd behavior. (The Word and the Herd!) We partner with horses and the Holy Spirit to reach youth where they are and to help encourage them to get to where they want to be. We encourage biblical thought patterns that set people free for the life that God has called them to live. We want to help youth with painful life experiences move beyond pain into a place of experiencing God’s truth and freedom. This Faith-Based Equine Assisted Program is for ages 5 through 18, and targets issues like finding and using your voice, healthy boundaries, trust, hope, and truly knowing that you are loved by God! This program is centered around God, the Holy Spirit and horses. Through this program kids will build on character skills such as respect, responsibility, dependability, communication, caring, teamwork and more. Participants will gain confidence and an improved sense of self-worth. For kids struggling with emotional, social or behavioral challenges, this program is designed to help kids develop emotional strength, character and relationship skills that will help them navigate life’s many challenges. This is a powerful and effective therapeutic approach that has an incredible impact on individuals, youth and their families.
We believe hurting people need Hope, especially hurting kids. Thousands of children experience acute crisis everyday and their trauma is a result of difficulties like physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse, neglect, violence, illness or death of a loved one, to name a few. These Children need the foundational elements of a healthy relationship: safety, trust and love. Rescued horses have a unique way of connecting to these needs through their own stories of rescue and restoration. Through establishing a safe and caring relationship, a person of faith lead by the Holy Spirit and a rescued horse can help the child begin the process of healing. The horse’s own story of rescue, redemption and rehabilitation brings hope for kids. Children can often connect better to animals. An animals’ love is so different than that of a person and usually easier for a child to accept, believe and receive. Once a child can accept the love of a horse, they can begin to accept the Love of God and next people. I’m so excited to see God work and His love to begin to heal these hurting children.
