WELCOME HOME OUR TENNIS STATE MEDALISTS!!!
Our gold, silver and bronze medalists from the 3A State Singles & Doubles Tennis Tournament will returning to Vernon at approximately 10:30 p.m. tonight and will be escorted down Wilbarger Street and to the VHS tennis courts by the Vernon Police Department. We have gold medalists in Lily Beam & Will Castleberry; silver medalists in Jonathan Medina & Nevan Schur; and bronze medalist in Hunter Boatman.
Line Wilbarger Street and fall in line after they pass you, or hang out at the tennis courts and await their arrival!!

Our Vernon tennis players will take the court tomorrow at the UIL Class 3A Singles & Doubles State Tournament being held in San Antonio. Good luck to: Lily Beam & Will Castleberry in Mixed Doubles; Jonathan Medina & Nevan Schur in Boys Doubles; and Hunter Boatman in Boys Singles!! Let's bring home some hardware!!

VHS Sports Banquet – Varsity Athlete & Guest Information-May 12

536 sports banquet tickets have been distributed! To help the evening run smoothly, please review the following information.

Schedule:
5:00 PM – Refreshments, food vendors, and photo booths open in the Empire Room
5:30 PM – Awards Ceremony begins in the Auditorium

Important Information for Athletes:
🦁Athletes should sit in the front right section of the auditorium.
🦁Each sport will have designated rows with team signs.
🦁Booster Club ushers will be available to help athletes find their section.

When your sport is called:
🦁Line up along the right aisle and wait to be announced.
🦁Athletes will be called individually to the stage to receive awards.
🦁After receiving your award, move to the risers for team recognition.
🦁Teams will exit the stage together after all awards are presented.

Special Honors:
🦁Athletes receiving special honors should remain on stage briefly for a photo with Kathy.

Multi-Sport Athletes:
🦁After your first sport is recognized, move directly to the reserved seating area for your next sport.

NEW — Senior Recognition:

🦁Seniors will be recognized one final time by Coach Payne and Coach Reeves.
🦁Seniors will receive a Booster Club senior gift during the ceremony.

IMPORTANT:
🦁The Booster Club Scholarship will be announced at the end of the program.
🦁If you applied for the scholarship, DO NOT LEAVE EARLY.

Reception & Photo Booths:
🦁The Empire Room reception area and photo booths will open at 5:00 PM and remain open throughout the evening.
🦁Athletes and guests may visit the reception throughout the evening, but please remain respectful and quiet so the ceremony can continue without disruption.

We look forward to celebrating all of our VHS varsity athletes!

Tru Gipson REGION CHAMP & STATE BOUND!!

Tru Gipson found another gear when he needed it most!

The Vernon senior claimed gold in the Region I-3A boys 100 meters, punching his ticket to state!

Gipson ran a 10.79 -- just .01 off his best time of the season.

Red River Roundup expects to see Gipson in medal contention in Austin!

Tevan Evans REGION RUNNER-UP & STATE BOUND!

Congrats to Vernon's Tevan Evans for finishing second in the Region I-3A boys high jump, punching his ticket to state!

Tevan has great potential to clear big heights in this event. His regional silver could easily lead to state gold!

Red River Roundup will be in Austin to see him bid for it!

Breasha Waggoner REGION CHAMP and STATE BOUND!

Congrats to Vernon's Breasha Waggoner for claiming the Region I-3A girl high jump championship!

Waggoner has been the area's top girls high jumper all season, so it's no surprise to us that we'll be following her to Austin!
