Congratulations from the Vernon Chamber of Commerce to the Lady Dawgs Softball Team and Coach Steven Brock for winning the 2026 2A AHSAA Softball state championship game and on an outstanding season. We are so proud of our Vernon Bulldogs!

Congratulations to our May Business of the Month, Showstoppers Dance and Fitness. Haley Pennington opened Showstoppers in August 2006 teaching ballet and tap to girls ages three and up. She added fitness classes in 2010 after getting certified in Zumba Level 1 and 2, Zumba Toning, and Zumbatomics for Kids. She later added Pilates Toning in 2024. Haley opened and moved to her permanent location in 2019. She, along with along with her teaching assistant Julianne Burks, teaches nine dance classes and three fitness classes a week. Showstoppers upcoming dance recital will be May 30 at 7:00 PM, and dance camp will be June 22-26 for ages three and up.

Kristen Mitchell bought V-Town Nutrition in January and moved it to her current location in March. She serves loaded teas, specialty teas, shakes, and frappes. Her hours are Monday-Wednesday 6:30-2:00, Thursday and Friday 6:30-4:00, Saturday 8:00-2:00, and Sunday12:00-4:00.

Congratulations to our April Business of the Month, Noah's Ark Day Care Center. Shannon Lugo opened Noah's Ark in June 2017, with a vision rooted in compassion and purpose. Her goal was to create a safe, nurturing environment that would support working parents and those striving to further their education.

Mrs. Lugo began this journey with just seven children, fueled by determination and a deep commitment to serving families in her community. Building Noah's Ark has requited hard work, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Along the way, she has faced many heartbreaking setbacks, but each challenge has only strengthened her resolve.

Through it all, Mrs. Lugo's passion for helping families has remained the foundation of everything she does. She continues to move forward with the same vision she started with--providing a place where children are cared for, supported, and given the opportunity to grow.

Today, Noah's Ark Day Care proudly offers a First-Class Pre-K program and has earned a Four-Star rating through Alabama Quality STARS. These accomplishments reflect our commitment to excellence and our ongoing dedication to providing high quality early childhood education for every child they serve.
