SUNDAY NIGHT/EARLY MONDAY: SPC has now defined a level 3/5 "enhanced risk" for parts of North and West Alabama, with a level 2/5 risk for the rest of the state.

Models are trending toward a cold front with very good upper air dynamic support and good instability despite the time of day. Storms late Sunday night and early Monday (pre-dawn hours) will have potential to bring damaging wind and a few tornadoes.

Storms will likely enter the northwest corner of the state around midnight Sunday night, then advancing southward overnight, exiting the southeast corner by 8-9 a.m.

Now is a good time to review your severe weather plan. Have a reliable way of getting warnings (a NOAA Weather Radio is the baseline) since this will be a "middle of the night" event. Follow the Alabama Weather Network on social platforms (including YouTube), and have the AWN app on your TV, phone, and tablet.

There is a level 1 to 2, out of 5, risk for severe thunderstorms for most of Central Alabama for Wednesday late afternoon & into Wednesday night. The main threat will be damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph. There is also a threat for a tornado or two & large hail up to quarter size
