The Vernon Fire Department Company #1 Auxiliary has had our busiest quarter yet supporting the fire department, and community.
While we always hope the call never comes, we stand ready whenever we are needed. Our pantry and freezer are fully stocked with light snacks, meals, Gatorade, water, and other essentials so we can respond in any weather, at any time. Depending on the situation, we may also purchase quick and easy items such as bagels to ensure crews are taken care of.
This last quarter, we supported multiple incidents by providing snacks (granola bars, beef jerky, etc.), meals (bagels, donuts, pancakes, sausage roll-ups), and plenty of coffee and water. These were provided to our standby crews (firefighters from surrounding towns who bring apparatus to our firehouse to cover additional calls while our firefighters are out) as well as those working on scene and our firefighters upon their return to the firehouse.
Calls this quarter included:
• January 19, 2026 – Structure Fire, Drew Mountain• February 11, 2026 – Structure Fire, Butternut (PVL)• February 20, 2026 – Structure Fire, O’Dell Road• March 4, 2026 – Structure Fire, Glenwood Mountain
We are proud to support the firefighters who protect our community and remain ready to assist whenever duty calls.
Special thanks to Lox of Bagels and Vernon Dunkin Donuts for helping to supply some of these snacks and refreshments at short notice.
We also hosted non-fire related successful events: a silent auction fundraiser in March and our annual Easter flower sale this past weekend.
We are also looking forward to and preparing for our first Mother’s Day Flower Sale on May 9th.
New members are always welcome.
