Riders from the Santa Rosa Palomino Club have served as the color guard for the Wreaths Across America ceremony at Eastview Cemetery in Vernon for the past ten years. Nothing says Texas better than watching them parade down the entry to the cemetery carrying the flags. Take a minute to watch this great story about them.

Western Trail Chapter will once again host the Wreaths Across America ceremony at Eastview Cemetery on Saturday, December 19th. There are at least 1700 veterans buried at Eastview and we have yet to make our goal of placing one on every grave. Please consider sponsoring a wreath (or more) for those who selflessly served our nation. Click the link below to be directed to our specific group to ensure your sponsorship at Eastview. If you have any questions at all, please contact us via email at [email protected]. Thank you in advance for your support!

This "photo" is reminescent of our ancestors who served in the cause for American Independence. As we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the United States, we are called to remember and honor the courageous patriots whose sacrifices gave birth to our nation. Two and a half centuries ago, ordinary men and women made extraordinary choices. They left their homes, farms, businesses, and families to support the cause of liberty and self-government. Through military service, civic leadership, financial support, and personal sacrifice, they helped secure the freedoms that Americans continue to enjoy today.

The American Revolution was not won by soldiers alone. It was sustained by citizens who believed in the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence—freedom, representative government, and the fundamental rights of all people. Patriots endured hardship, uncertainty, and danger in pursuit of a vision that would shape the future of a new nation. Their perseverance and devotion to principle remain an enduring example for every generation.

As we celebrate America's Semiquincentennial, we honor these Revolutionary Patriots not only by remembering their achievements, but by striving to uphold the values for which they fought. We preserve their stories, protect the historical records they left behind, and pass their legacy to future generations. Through acts of service, civic engagement, and a renewed commitment to our nation's founding ideals, we ensure that their sacrifices are never forgotten.

The 250th Anniversary of the United States offers a unique opportunity to reflect on our shared heritage and express gratitude to those who helped establish the republic. May we proudly honor our Revolutionary ancestors, celebrate their contributions, and continue the work of preserving the blessings of liberty for generations yet to come.

If you would like to find out if you have a Revolutionary Patriot in your family tree, please reach out. We'd love to help you find them

Lest we forget...

Honoring all the members of our armed forces who gave what President Abraham Lincoln called "the last full measure of devotion," Memorial Day is one of the most important and solemn days on the National Mall. Across 250 years of American history, starting with those who fell while fighting alongside General George Washington in the Revolutionary War to recent conflicts, we will never forget our heroes. The military memorials on the National Mall are stunning tributes to hundreds of thousands of people who laid down their lives for freedom. Today we lay wreaths at these special places, but every day, walking past stone walls and metal statues, we recognize the loved and lost and offer the thanks of a grateful nation.

Saint Patrick was a Christian missionary who lived during the 5th century and became the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick’s Day, celebrated each year on March 17, commemorates the life and legacy of this historical figure and honors Irish heritage, culture, and traditions. While the holiday began as a religious feast day in Ireland, it grew into a global cultural celebration – especially in the United States, where Irish immigration transformed it into one of the most widely recognized cultural holidays in the world.

Today, St. Patrick’s Day represents both religious remembrance and cultural pride. Parades, green clothing, music, and public festivals are now synonymous with the holiday. Yet behind the celebrations lies a deeper history that stretches back more than fifteen centuries, beginning with the life of Saint Patrick himself and evolving through centuries of Irish tradition and Irish-American identity.

There are many Irish born Revolutionary War Patriots! Do you descend from one? Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit (Happy Saint Patrick's Day in Gaelic)
